Sydney people, help!! (not Disney related)

Do they realise early August is only eight to ten weeks away - thats going to be one mad rush to organise a wedding if they dont even have the venue sorted! :confused3

Yeah that was my thought too. I can't see them getting it off the ground in some ways. However they were suggesting 6 days post our return from LA in October as an alternative and DH wouldn't be able to make that. It's my brothers second marriage and the brides first - she's an only child too and her mum & dad will be flying out from China for it. I honestly thought the idea of taking all the rellies on the Disney Wonder and doing the vows there would have been lovely. I bet her parents would have loved a trip to do something completely different. Worked really well for us too!

When we travel to sydney for work, as a public servant, I am given $160/night for sydney.
I've had some good accommodation at Wynyard Travelodge - right over Wynyard Station.
The Menzies at Wynyard has some unrefurbished rooms which are cheaper - and they are large rooms.
At North Sydney Station is the Harbourview Hotel - this has good prices and the added bonus of spectacular views over the harbour.
Milson's Point (1st rail station on the other side of the harbour bridge) has a couple of B&B type places.
Although I have to admit - I am with the others and am wondering how they will get a wedding at a harbour venue in only a couple of months!

oh god not parklea....so glad you survived:banana:
parra city is better.....

Thanks I so should have asked you before booking!!

I just presumed if it had a Big 4 out there it must be okay...

All good we had a great time in Sydney and we even went to the Rooty Hil Skatepark for my 5 year old nephew!!

Well my brother has just had heartfailure when I told him how long it takes to get a wedding dress organised! Think that might push the date out a bit. He's offered to help cover our costs, which stunned me - it must be love. :lmao:

Wow I forgot how far into the year we are :lmao:

I had a 2 and a half year engagement, so I can't imagine organising everything by August! Fair enough August probably isn't "busy" season for weddings on the harbour, but the logistics of it boggle the mind!

You can get a dress off the rack, you can book any available location, you can do your own hair and makeup, and you might be able to find a photographer that has the day free, but why such a rush? :confused3 maybe there's another reason they want the wedding so soon...

Personally I'd put it off until early next year and take the time to make sure everything is perfect, and not make do with what's available...

I think the rush is that they both work at the same very large financial institution. Her bosses boss is my brothers internal client and she wants to be taken for the bright woman she is (which she'd have to be to be doing the role she is anyway, so personally I think she's worried over nothing) rather than 'sleeping her way to the top'.

I completely agree, I would not rush it - it has to be right.
