but I did. I was at a small crop where one gal announced she was selling her cricut as she just bought a cricut expressions. I haven't picked it up yet, but she told me it's the machine plus 2 new cutting mats for $50. please don't tell me if that's not a great deal b/c i'm under the impressions that it is :thumbsup2

so please tell me, those who have worked with the Disney cart...how tedious/frustrating are those cute characters? it is a must-have or bust?

I wish there was one with Disney Fonts for resorts, theme parks, rides, etc...

what is there i MUST have? :cool1:

:thanks:

I think you'll like it! It's an ok deal, don't worry about that. The mickey cart is fun - just, if you're going to piece your charactors, make them big enough. I paint on the eyes, too, rather than cutting those itty bitty bits.

The carts I use most are opposites attract (fonts), Storybook, Mickey. pretty much in that order.

You will love it.. great price!!!!

Carts: Mickey font is awesome.. Mickey and friends is awesome.. a little tedious at times but anything over 3" is great to work with... I love making the characters at 4" the best..
I don't have the fairy cart so hopefully one of the gals that does will pop in here and tell you about that..
I have the "Happily ever after cart"... It's nice... but it seems most all of us have had issues w/ their eyes looking evil.... I mainly use their blackout shadow instead of layering them... I don't have the other princess cart so someone will have to get you a review on that one too.. but I do find I don't use HEA much at all...

I love the george cart for lettering as well as Storybook!!

I actually bought my first Cricut because I had heard Disney carts were coming out. I would say start off with the Mickey and Friends and Pooh and Friends (and the Font M & P carts) for the characters. They are easier to work with than the Princesses and Fairy carts. Just to practice start off making the characters as big as you can with your machine. I think that will avoid the frustration that comes with learning to do the piecing. And I'm with others when it comes to the eyes on the Princesses and Fairies ... if they don't cut well just use pens.
Have fun with your new toy!

:thanks:

any input on the Dreams Come True cart?

i did ebay Alphalicious to get started. i just saw in Big Lots ad they have carts for $30 this week. Is there a easy way to know which carts retail for how much. there sees to be some on the lower end, like $35-40 and then the higher end $60-80. I don't want to make the mistake of thinking I'm getting this fab deal (like Big Lots) and really I'm just buying for a comparable price.

You'll see carts for sale for $69.99 and $89.99 ... do not pay that much! Keep an eye out for sales at Michaels, A C Moore, JoAnns and Hobby Lobby. You can get those same carts for $39.99 or less. I also do a lot of my cart purchasing online at places like scrapbookpal.com and scrappersmusthaves.com. I know a lot of people buy off of ebay but I'm not an ebay shopper. And also don't worry ... there are a lot of enablers around here ... people are sure to let it be known if there is a good sale on carts going on somewhere. :thumbsup2

I am right now using Dreams Come True and Happily Ever After to make decorations for DD's princess themed birthday party. I agree with all the previous comments. Don't try to make a princess in full dress any smaller than 5 1/2 inches. There is a tremendous amount of intricate detail that will just get mangled if you make one smaller.

Mickey and Friends is much easier, there aren't as many tiny details on the characters.

You can look at the design and kind of figure out which ones are simpler. Once you get a hang of the layering it can go pretty quickly.

Now I'm craving the expression. I've been dropping non too subtle hints to DH that the expression would be the perfect mother's day gift. He then asks why I bought the cricut I have if I wanted the bigger one. They didn't have the expression then!!

I think that is a good price. Just have fun playing with it and check out the various cartridges on the cricut website. I make a lot of cards and personally love the Graphically Speaking cartridge. Determine what suits you best.

Welcome to the club! I bought my Cricut personal from a friend at my former job. You got a pretty good deal. :cool1:

Problem is, I loved my Cricut personal so much, I bought the expression as soon as it came on sale! So, now I have two and I'm not selling the personal.

Keep an eye on the sales at your local craft stores. I've picked up several cartridges on deep discount lately, at least 50% off if not more.
