Do they still have the sword in the stone? If so how is it and will it intrest my DS10.
Thanks Don

Sword in the Stone is still happening near Cinderellas Golden Carrousel.Merlin will pick some lucky child to draw the sword from the stone. My wife and I enjoy this little show presided over by Merlin I see lots of happy little ones from two to twelve and older to seem to really enjoy this little show.:earsboy: :sunny: :earsgirl:

Yes, it's still done several times a day. Your son will probably get a kick out of it. Get there about 5-10 minutes beforehand. Get in the front row. Have him obey Merlin's directions (particularly his "invisible rope"). He asks for volunteers, have him raise his hand, smile, and be polite. Don't jump up and down and shout "Pick ME!!!" That wouldn't guarantee anything, but from our observations it'll increase his odds.

I really like this show because Merlin seems to favor picking kids that are well-behaved. If a kid is trying hard to get his attention or the mom is pointing to the top of the kid's head (and it happens a lot!), the kid hasn't been picked when I've been watching.

It's a cute show. It's especially cute when the chosen bodyguard has an incredibly amused girlfriend. :p

Thanks for the info. Going to put this on our list. Maybe DS might get lucky, I'm lucky because he is one very well behaved boy. We'll see and what happens.
Thanks again.
Don

We had a great time at the sword in the stone show. We got there about 30 mins early and stood around enjoying a snack and a cool drink. There was a man (who I suspect may have been Merlin himself) who came by and set up a couple of props. He talked to us briefly and went on his way. We stayed right up front and sure enough when the magical time came DS 8 was picked! We loved it all...one more lil bit of info, Merlin does not do autographs or pictures EXCEPT for the lucky child and any other kids with THAT child. ! At least this was what we found. So getting picked was a big hilight for our crew.

When ds was picked to pull the sword from the stone, he actually WASN'T standing in the front row... he'd given up his front row spot to a smaller child whose somewhat obnoxious parent was trying to push their child in front of the others, and into a good spot. DS politely backed up for the child. I agree that Merlin really seems to watch behavior, and look for children who are "deserving" and well behaved, rather than children who are just loud and boisterous.

Note: Before I get slammed - I did not mean to imply that children who are not chosen are undeserving... just that Merlin seems to look for children whose good behavior stands out. Since we all have exemplary children, if two or more DIS children show up at the same show, Merlin really has his work cut out for him... but no one ever said that choosing a Temporary Ruler of the Kingdom was an easy job!

When DS was 6 (8 yrs ago!) he was chosen (was also being very polite - ahh, the good old days!). He was also given a medallion on a ribbon and a certificate stating he was ruler for the day - he proudly wore his medallion for the rest of the day and got a lot of attention from the characters and CMs who noticed it - what fun memories!:smooth:
