We were at DL at the end of a long week, a Friday morning about 11. My boy was tir-red, and didn't even want to go to the ceremony-and he's a sword FREAK! We nibbled our churro, and, since we were right outside the castle wall, I eventually said, "Let's wander by there to see." He was playing with the sword when Merlin walked up and roped off that area. I thought about dropping a word in Merlin's ear, but didn't want to be one of those pushy, insufferable pain in the pants types that I'm sure he encounters regularly, so left it up to fate.
The plot is simple; they need a temporary ruler of the realm. He picks a burly young stud from the crowd who, of course, can't make it budge. Then he picks, in this case, my son, who was successful, crowned, and given a nice parchment and medallion. Talk about instant mood shift, everyone we passed for the rest of the day knew what happened to him.
I didn't have my camera, which may have worked in our favor, since it wasn't just a photo op for Dad, but we've seen it once since then, and he was picked again for the cameras. Both times we were front and center, but I don't know that they always pick from that spot or not. It's really cool if it is, although I wouldn't rush there from the other side of the park.
Cheers.
