Switching TS and CS

I keep reading all these threads on the difficulty in making ADRs. Admittedly, for every person not getting anything, there's another with no problem. Still, it has me thinking...

We are on the DDP. It's free but we booked a BB last year; we're falling in FD this time around. If I have trouble making ADRs, can TS credits be used at CS? I don't want to do this but hate to have free food and not get anything to eat!

I've been during FD for the past 3 years and there are always TS places open... now these aren't obviously the most popular restaurants but they're still good. I have walked into Biergarten and Captain's Grille at YC and have seen Tutto Italia, Teppan Edo, Tokyo Dining, Nine Dragons, Rose & Crown, Marrakesh, Plaza as well as many other resort restaurants open.

Plus, newer restaurants that are lesser known may be more easily available such as Sanaa and if Kouzzina is open by then. And for the last couple of years they have opened up the Diamond Horseshoe for a buffet for those who need a TS to eat at.

I've been every Sept since they first started free dining. With the exception of the first year, Disney has allowed some sort of switch from CS to TS. The deal changes each year though. Last year you could trade a TS for a CS and a voucher for 2 snacks. The year before, I think it was a TS for a CS and a lanyard with two pins. There has not been any word about being able to trade TS for CS for this year, but I would assume they'll announce something soon. Again the only year it was not allowed was the very first year and Disney had some very irate guests on their hands. We saw some of them screaming at CMs and it wasn't pretty. I don't think Disney wants to ever go through that again.
