Switching to non home resort points at 7 months

i have a reservation booked using home resort points for next May. I want to switch to using some of my non home resort points at the 7 month mark. Has anyone done successfully this without canceling the reservation and rebooking?

i don't see how you could. Home resort priority is just that, for a reason. If you were able to 'switch out' the points at the 7 month mark, without cancelling and rebooking, it would give owners who own at two (or more) different resorts an unfair advantage.

If the reservation is still available at the 7 month mark, you can have the points reallocated to non-home points. Or, you can just remake the reservation online using non-home points. Then cancel the first reservation.

This only works if the reservation is still available.

DVC does not allow you to circumvent the 11 month home resort booking window. Not fair to other members.

Makes sense. Thanks. Just didn't want to cancel and rebook it, but thought that it would still need to be available at the 7 month mark to do it, so I think I will be ok.

Online, the only thing you can do is cancel the exisitng reservation and rebook. If the reservation you want is still separately available from the one you already have, you can call MS and MS can put into your existing reservation the other resort's points while taking out your home resort points without cancelling the existing reservation.

Yep call and remember at the 7 month mark you can onky do 7 nights so if you have an 8 night stay you would onky be able to change the first 7 nights

I waited till 7 months out to book and I have to call back tomorrow to add the last night of my trip to akl
