Ok folks, I need some help here. My DF is not convinced that we should use the complimentary night in the garden suite at the Boardwalk. He thinks that it would be too much of a hassle to pack, then lug ALL of our stuff to the garden suite, then pack again the next morning to leave. He would just like to switch the reservation so that we will just get the last night free in our standard room. I am trying to convince him that staying here probably not something we are ever going to be able to do again.

Can anyone tell me how "seamless" (or not) the transition is between rooms? The check out time is 11am and check in is at 4...what happens to all of our stuff in the meantime? Help!

I didn't think the garden suite is guaranteed for your wedding night (or complimentary night). They usually guarantee you a room for your comp night but there's no saying it won't be a regular room.

Unless it's changed since our wedding in 08.

We were upgraded to a garden suite - but we also had one night only and didn't find out until we checked in.

The way I did it was have 2 rooms on our wedding night so didn't save any money. We were booked into the Poly over the wedding. On the morning of the wedding while I was getting ready DH took a small bag over to the GF and checked us in, leaving the bag there. After the reception we picked up our key and bag and went to our room. Like I said it meant we didn't save any money but did mean we got to stay in a special room on our wedding night.

That's kind of what we're doing too. We're just using it extra so we don't have to do all kinds of switching. If we make the free room, it'll be for me to stay at the GF for the night before.

That is what we did—we put our free night on the last night of our trip, packed up from AKV and drove over to the GF. It's really not a hassle because you're already packed, so you just live out of your suitcase that last night. Also, Disney can transfer your luggage to the new resort for you (just allow at least 4 hours where you don't need it, cuz it can take a while).

However, as twiu noted, your free night is only guaranteed to be a standard room, not a Concierge-level room and definitely not a suite. Sometimes people get a little pixie dust, but I confess to being rather disappointed when we didn't get the GF Turret Room I'd seen so many other brides get on their free night. At least we still got Concierge, though!

One other thing—for us, switching resorts actually made the trip feel longer (we switched 4 times in 2 weeks). Having that last night at a different resort felt like starting a whole new mini trip at the end of the vacation, rather than just another night that happened to be our last. :thumbsup2

You actually can now request the Garden Level Suite at the Boardwalk. At the moment that is where my free night is booked, it's even on my print out they send for the room block update.

I'm having the same dilemma of keeping it or not. We are staying at WL for the first 3 nights of our trip. I requested the Garden Level Suite for the wedding night because our reception is at ADH. Now that I think about it though, I can't afford to pay the prices for the suite for the next 2 nights and don't want to have to switch again. Plus, we'll likely only be in the room for a few hours. They told me I could move it to another night, but I still don't know if I want to move that much. DF certainly does not...

Thanks for all of the input, ladies! :goodvibes Like kharmagirl, we were told that our complimentary night would be in the garden suite, which is why I would even consider moving rooms. I would really love the opportunity to stay here, but I can't convince DF that it would be worth it.

that's awesome you can request that now... darn it, why couldn't we? Oh well, we got it anyway!

How much more "worth it" can you get than free? :rotfl: Seriously, show him the rack rate of the Garden Suite—maybe that'll change his tune!

Well, I am happy to say that DF has finally come around and has agreed to move to the garden suite!!! WOO HOO!
