Switching to Deluxe Day of Extended Hours

Hello! We will be switching from a moderate to a deluxe the day of EPCOT extended evening hours. I read some time ago that people in the same situation had issues with their band scanning and had to show their MDE hotel to prove they are staying at a deluxe.

Has anyone had this happen recently? Do you have to show your hotel in the MDE app each time you scan your band or will the CM update it somehow?

I had it happen in August. We moved from Pop to Poly on the Epcot extended evening day (Monday). We had no issue getting a Cosmic Rewind 6pm boarding group, or riding that ride. But when trying to scan in for Spaceship Earth it flagged us as ineligible. I had to show the 2 hotel reservations in MDE. The CM didn't offer any magical way to get it fixed for the next ride. The same thing happened outside of the Land Pavilion.

I was told to make sure to check out of my previous room. I haven’t tested it since receiving that advice though.

An untested theory based purely in speculation... Sometimes when you switch resorts like that your magic band won't work for your hotel room door either and you need to go to the front desk and have them give it a refresh. If you'll be at your new resort before the after hours I'd probably stop by and have them refresh the bands if it is working for your door or not and hope that also would fix and potential park issues.
