Switching to a New iPhone

I am going to get a new iPhone tomorrow (iPhone 4). What do I need to do in order to prepare? It takes forever to sync my phone so I'd like to avoid that if I could. I don't have any new apps since the last sync. Does my current iPhone turn into an iPod after I switch phones? Can I just plug it in to get the pics off after I get the new phone or should I upload the pics before I go get the new phone?

It is best to sync your "old" phone one last time before you activate and do the 1st sync on your "new" phone. If you have pictures on your "old" phone, they will transfer to your computer during this last sync.

Your "old" phone will essentially turn into an iTouch.

If you go to the Apple store, they'll do it for you. If you have Mobile Me, they get that all set up, too.

I walked out with a fully functioning new phone and never had to look at the old one again.

Just make sure you sync your current photo before you go.

This was my brother's plan, but he came out with the 4S. He loves it and said he's really glad he decided to go with the 4S. They did everything for him in the AT&T store, transferred everything, ect...

Mine synced fine and DH is still tinkering with his. I got a 32 and he got a 64. My 3Gs is a great Itouch--I argued with him about getting the 4s. The joy of re-entering my ADR info on the App will be fun. We leave in 12 days--now DH can find me anywhere in the World.... No slipping off to MouseGears

Back up your photos also. This sometimes doesn't happen when you sync your phone.

The 4S will talk back to you. The 4 doesn't have this feature (but it does have voice command).

Since you have the disboards, I can't imagine you need a sassy phone that talks back to you.
