Has anyone ever moved their reservation from one TA to another? Just got a quote from DU that is considerably less than our current reservation. Can it be transferred?

I am the queen of TA transfers...

I made our current reservations with DCL, then moved them to Costco (savings of $1400), then moved them to AAA (easier to contact directly).

My onboard credit and savings have all stayed in tact. My advice is to make sure up front that you can retain any of your benefits or credits before you switch.

Good luck!

Did you have to get a refund of your deposit and the send it to the new TA or does is transfer? I assume that DCL has the money anyway so it shouldn't matter.

As a professional courtesy most TA's will not transfer reservations that are held with another travel agency, I believe that this includes Dreams. You could cancel your current reservation if there are no penalties involved and rebook with DU. I'm sure I have read here that they will not transfer the reservation unless it was booked directly with DCL.

Our deposit was automatically transferred.

We did have to write a letter to Costco to have them release our reservation to AAA. Their service was fine, be we were having a hard time contacting them in a timely matter with my husband overseas.

Hi, I booked a cruise with a TA for rccl next march. Then I found the same thing online for 750.00 less. Called my TA and she gave me a big hassle. She made me get several holds with diff. online agencies to show the difference. That was 3 weeks ago. I still don't know if she is giving me the difference? She keeps saying don't worry about it. I can't switch because I bought insurance for 5 people and would loose that money. I don't want to be a pain but I'm starting to get irritated. I wish I could rebook? Has anyone ever encountered this?

...to DU. Saved over $600. We gave the original TA the chance to meet or beat the DU price and they said they could go no lower.

$600 buys a lot of shore excursions. Or drinks. Or souvenirs.

wish we could switch .. but we used HGVC timeshare points and were told before we booked that the ressie can NOT be transferred to another TA later on .. sad I can't transfer to another TA, but thrilled I'll be on the ship (and was able to use my HGVC points to do it). :hyper:
