Switching Rooms Question?

Hi all! We are going to WDW and are staying at AKV. This will be our first time there as DVC members so we have extra points that we can use and would like to stay concierge since we are able to this time. However when I booked our room we were not able to get the whole stay on the concierge level so for the first few we have a Savanna view. My question in after the third day when we have to switch rooms from what I undersatand we must check out and recheck in. Is there any chance of getting into the next room before the regular check in time? At least an hour before? We have plans to be somewhere else and would like to be there to check in. Also would it be wise not to buy any groceries until the 2nd part of the stay or will the store them in a cooler somewhere? I know that sounds like a really strange question. But with Disney you never know. They never seem to surprize me.

As to whether you can get in to your room early, that is luck of the draw, but with concierge you may have a better than even chance.

If your room isn't ready, bell services can store your luggage and refrigerate your perishables.

We switched rooms in march from OKW to BWV and had not problems. We packed up our stuff and called bell services, they came to our room and put tags on everything, marked them for BWV, identified what container was to be put in the fridge and off they went. We went over to BWV and checked in and then went to the park for the day, when we returned, the bags were waiting for us and we had them brought up to the room.

I would expect you should be there to meet bell services when you leave your original room. I know some have posted that they just left the luggage in the room and went off for the day, but I wouldn't feel comfortable with this. And I would be afraid they'd miss the stuff in the fridge. If there's availability, they may be able to put you in your new room right away. But I wouldn't count on that. You don't need to be checked out of the first room before you can get checked into the second room. But again, I would doubt that you'll get that lucky.

I found that we had too many items that needed refrigeration to fit into a reasonable sized container (18x20x18 in). I wasn't sure what size container they would be able to store in their fridge I think next time I make a switch, I will have either two orders, one to be delivered for each location or just do the second one.

Thanks for all your help. I did not think of calling bell services for some reason... I thought we would have to take all our luggage down to the front to be checked. Maybe it won't be as big of a hassel as I thought it would be.
