Switching Rooms-How easy?

How easy is it to switch from a studio to a 2 bedroom at the same resort? Are you allowed to stay in your current room til your new one is ready or do you have to check-out and wait?

It all depends on if you are able to get the adjoining 1br to your studio. If you do, you have to "check" out of the studio, come back later and receive the keys to the 2bd. So, you can leave your stuff in the studio, but you have to physically be out of the room most of the day (or at least until your room is ready). If the adjoining 1br is not available, you have to completely check out of the room. Either way, make plans that keep you busy during the day.

We checked in on a Saturday and had a studio for one night at the BWV and were moving to a 2BR the next day. I explained to the CM at the front desk that we were hoping to just open the connecting door the next day. She said she would try to make it work and did. The next morning we had to check out and then back in again, (all at the same time) but we were able to just open the door and not move.

It won't always work but if you let the CM's know what you need, they will try. This wasn't during a slow time of the year either. It was over Presidents' Day weekend (2003 I think) and the resort was full.
