Hi all, I am looking for advice/info on our upcoming trip. We were originally planning to stay at an airport hotel the night before our flight, but now I am trying to see if it would be cheaper just to change our flight to the night before and stay at a value for one night. My main question is, without our own car, how do you transfer to a different hotel? The CM I spoke to suggested getting a cab. I am just wondering how you book that (from the resort the day of?) and about how much that would cost. TIA!

You can just call a cab from the front desk (I keep the number stored in my phone) and they will send one over. Pop the bags in the back and go. My only question is if you are using the Magical Express to the airport? If so, you can just check your bags at the Disney hotel and you won't have to fool with them to the airport--just be sure you let the Magical Express know you are there and that you want to add it for the return trip. That would be another added bonus of staying on property the last night. I find the cabs around property to be pretty easy to use and not that difficult to call either.

Disney will move your luggage between their resorts for you. What we do for such "split" stays is have bell services pick up our luggage first thing in the morning on the day we change resorts, then go off to a park for the day. Later in the afternoon, we head to the new resort on Disney transportation, check in and let them know to bring our luggage to the room. No need to lose a day of touring/fun in order to make the switch. Just be aware that you won't have access to your luggage until later that afternoon, so anything that you may need you should carry with you (medications etc.).

Are you talking return flight or arrival flight? If arrival, you can stay off-site at a local airport hotel, then take their shuttle back to hotel and set up the ME to take you to WDW as if you arrived that day. I don't think you are talking about a big $$ saving. If it is the departure, you could do the same, take the ME to the airport as if you are flying out that day, then stay at a local airport hotel. If this is not what you had in mind, you can do a cab or you can also buy seats on MEARS, which is the transportation company WDW uses. You can also do a limo - but that would negate any savings.

Yes, we are using ME. The guy told me he could set it up so we can use it to the Value the night we get there, and then from POR when we leave. Our flight wouldn't arrive until 9:30pm if we switch. That's another question..with getting in on the late side, would we just get our own luggage and take it on the ME bus so we have it? This may be more trouble then it's worth, lol.

Really?! That would be perfect! Is there any fee involved, or just tipping?

Thanks for the replies! This site is so helpful!

If your flight arrives after 10 PM, you must get your own luggage and take it with you on DME. Before 10 PM, they will get it for you as long as you use the yellow tags. Note that it may not arrive at your room for a couple of hours after your flight arrival.

Great, thanks so much!
