Hi all,

New to the site and have looked around but couldn't find much in the way of any other posts.

We are going to WDW next year for our honeymoon in August and are staying at one of the All Star resorts. Was just wondering if it's possible to potentially move resorts while we are there should we not like it. My fiancée wanted to stay at a moderate however it was going to cost too much and so we booked at a value resort but by the time next year has come we might have the extra money in which we could have gone for a better hotel.

Thanks for your help

You can switch while you're there if there is space available and you're willing to pay rack rate for the new resort.

Disney will release discounts for August a few months prior. Check mousesavers: they have a list of dates the discounts were released. I assure you that August will have a room only (and package) discount - deepest discounts are late August, but the whole month is pretty good. Sometimes you have to be flexible with resort choice and/or view/category of room. Also watch refurb news: Caribbean and Coronado are adding a building - major construction (so, not sure about you but that's not where I'd honeymoon (I'd go to POFQ or POR, or splurge on WL if Epcot deluxe is out of budget)). HTH!
ETA: You can go now to Disney's site to play around with August 2017 room/package discounts - while its already July so not as many rooms available under any certain discount, you can get a feel for what might be available (of course the discounts can change every year).

As PP mentioned, you're going to pay rack rate if you wait until you're there. And you run the risk of only more expensive rooms being available (pool view, special themes, etc).
Keep an eye out for discounts a little closer to your trip. I think upgrading from Value to Moderate is definitely worth it. But if you're sticking with value, you might switch to Pop and try to snag a newly renovated room with a Queen bed (there might be other values with queen beds, so those would be a better choice as well).
