We are staying in May and will be switching resorts from AKL to POLY. This will be our first time moving from one resort to another. Any idea about how long it takes Dinsey to move the luggage if we have them do it? Thanks.

It's sooooo easy to have them do it! You just call down to the front desk when you're ready to check out. Bell Services will come up and collect your stuff. You check out of the hotel, go to the parks or whatever you're doing for the day, go to the new hotel when you're ready to checkin and your stuff will be there. I think it takes them a few hours to get it there. We did this last September and it couldn't have been easier. They'll deliver it to your new room in the second hotel, too.

They tell you not to expect it before 4:00pm. In my case they lost it, and we didn't get it until after 6:00pm. In fact the only reason we got it was because the manager of the BW ruffled some feathers--the GF had NO IDEA where in all of WDW it could be. Then when they found it in the GF luggage room, they wanted us to come over and get it from them. Rather defeats the idea of having them move it. That was a classic case of extraordinarily poor guest service on the GF's part. Grrr.... Five years later I STILL get annoyed with that whole mess.

We are staying at AKL and Poly in May, too :) I've never switched Disney resorts, but I think it will be just fine. We are planning to just take a backpack w/stuff we'll need during the day while our luggage is being transferred.

We've switched a few times, but rather than take the chance of delayed luggage delivery, we've just packed and stuffed our luggage into our rental car for the day, and then checked in our new resort.

Once the room was ready and we were able to get into the room early and unpack, The other time, we got the paperwork done first thing in the morning at the new resort, and just left the luggage in the trunk until we got back from the parks.

It really wasn't a big hassle if you have a car, and to me, it's not worth the risk of delayed or lost baggage. Nine times out of ten, I'm sure there is no problem, but who wants to be the tenth!!

It is very easy.
We've done it a few times.
Just pack up your stuff in the morning, have the bellhop cart it off, enjoy the day at the Parks, go to your new Hotel, check in and your stuff gets delivered to your new room.

Have fun.

Hmmm what if you have stuff that has to be refrigerated??? Should we try to have all that stuff used up before the move.. We will be staying 6 nights at POFQ and then moving to AKL for 4

Sounds like it makes sence to let Disney move the luggage. Just don't sent anything with them you can't live without, right?

We've let Disney move our luggage a few times. We've never lost anything. Having said that, I treat them as you would an airline when you check baggage -- always keep on your person things you can't live without (ie medication).

I'll be changing resorts twice, once I'm calling a cab to take it with us, the other time I'm going to let Disney move it. When we get there we'll be at Sports before moving to WL for 6 days and when we move that day we'll have some things that I don't want to carry with us all day but will definitely need before we head to MVMCP that night and don't want to take a chance on it not being at WL when I need it so I'm going to move it myself. I also need to check into WL to get our tickets so I have to go to the lodge that morning anyway. The last night we're there we'll be moving to Pop because we'll be leaving early the next morning but we'll be going to breakfast at Chef Mickey's and then spening the rest of the day in the parks and won't get to Pop until late and I don't care where my room is there so there is no need to check in early so I'm letting Disney take care of that move.
