Switching resorts less than 2wks to check in?

Has anyone ever changed resorts with less than two weeks to go until you check in? We arrive on 5/13 and are currently booked at Coronado Springs. We were originally at Caribbean Beach, but moved due to the refurbishment. It wasn't ideal, but it was close to $100 cheaper for the 5 nights so I took it. I'm just not a huge fan of Coronado's theme, and I've been spoiled by the alternate transportation options at Deluxe resorts. Anyways, there's a room at the YC for around $300 a night, which is a pretty good deal. I'd love to be so close to EPCOT for the flower and garden festival, and just because EPCOT is my favorite park. I'm thinking about changing it, but with only 12 days until check in I'm afraid our Magical Express tags wouldn't get here in time. Any input would be appreciated, thanks!

You can call ME as soon as you make the switch and ask if they can mail new tags. If they don't arrive in time and if you can keep the same reservation number when you switch resorts then you can still use your original ME yellow luggage tags. Just cross out the old resort and write in the new resort.
 
The ME tags are scanned so that information should update no matter what the tag actually says.
 
I have done it before for similar reasons. Don't go into your trip not "feeling it". Switch if you can. I called ME and they told me to cross out the "area" code in the center of the Mickey head on your yellow tag and write in the new area. Yours would be EC. Your bags will still get to you, dont worry. You will love the YC and storm along bay. I hope you have a great trip!
 

Thanks for everyone's input! We switched to YC and I'm so excited! I've been to all of the monorail resorts plus the BC and the BC was my favorite by far. I can't wait to see how the YC is! We have a 2.5yo boy and he loved SAB when we stayed for his 2nd birthday, so I'm sure this time he'll love it even more. I'll be taking all of your advice for the tags and crossing my fingers they get to the room!

Luggage tags are easy - just cross off the old resort and write in the new.

Being assigned the correct bus line, not exactly. We switched resorts 3 times and our info was NOT automatically switched with ME. Matter of fact, ME tried to put us on the original resort reservation bus, because that is what was shown in their system. They said Resort Reservations & ME systems are not linked. So next time we will definitely call ME to update switches and not depend on Resort Reservations.

Excellent advice. Many, many guests assume that ME automatically gets updated when you first book or switch resorts. They are definitely 3 separate systems.
 
We switched three days before once and were able to get to SSR on the ME, but we grabbed our bags to make sure they got to the correct resort.

This happen to us, however we did call and get ME updated! LOL

We had the correct resort on our luggage tags and everything (POFQ) but when we checked in, the system kept trying to send us to our previous resort (POP) and the Magical Express CM was less than helpful. He insisted I didn't know what I was talking about. Finally we went to the counter & they had to manually print a scannable barcode for FQ. Even though the system said we were at POP. I even pulled up our confirmation number on the app and the room ready texted room number from Disney & they still didn't really believe me but agreed to let us on the bus as a "courtesy" but told us that if we needed to get to POP we'd have to find our own way. :rolleyes:

Almost 2 hours later, we finally got on a bus to FQ.:worship:

Yep, pretty much the same experience and an awkward way to start the trip. The ME desk CMs weren't the friendliest, and it made it obvious to everyone in line something wasn't right with us. Took 2 hours as well.

Its safe to say, I was glad I haven't booked any ADRs that day because we definitely would have missed it! :crazy2:

But luckily, that hasn't happened since then! :D

We have changed several times in two weeks time and never had a problem getting tags in time! Have fun!
 
I booked through a TA so when I called DME they said they weren't able to access our reservations. My TA assured me everything was switched, so I guess I have to take her word for it. Here's to hoping they let us on the right bus!
