Switching resorts during your stay....

I know there are a lot of you who switch resorts during a stay, so I have the typical dumb question:

I know that the resort will transport and store your belongings on your transfer day. Do they also give the guests a ride, or are guests expected to provide their own transportation (ie, private car or WDW buses) to the new location?

We did this once - we just had our luggage picked up at the Polynesian & went to the parks for the day. From the parks we took the bus over to the Wilderness Lodge & checked in. Our luggage was in our room an hour or two later. Definitely make sure you have on you anything you'll need for the day - we decided we needed sweatshirts that evening & had to wait on our luggage to arrive. Not sure if they give rides, I haven't heard of it if they do. HTH!

We always switch resorts. I don't believe they give rides. We always had a rental car so it wasn't an issue.

We have done this once (first night at AsSp before moving to AKL) and found it to be a wonderful service! We drove over to AKL but you could also take a bus to one of the parks and then take a bus to your new resort.

Last year I spent 3 nights at The Swan, then 3 nights at BWV.
It was such an easy switch. I didn't even ask about the luggage switch. I just checked out of The Swan, and then just wheeled my luggage over to The Boardwalk to check in.

This December, I will be at POR for 3 nights, then BWV for 3 nights. This is what I plan to do.

I willl check out of POR and have them send my luggage to The Boardwalk. I want to check into the Boardwalk as early as possible to get the paper work done. I will take the boat to
DTD, then get on the bus to the BWV to check in.
My room will probably not be ready yet, so I will then walk over to Epcot for the day. I just have to remember to take what I need for the day.

Thanks for the input! It's not that big of a deal, but I was curious.

If we get to take another trip next year, our plan would be for the family (DH, DS, and I) to stay a few nights at WL (or Poly - I've always wanted to stay at a Monorail resort!). Then the morning DH would leave to return home, DS (9) and I would switch to CSR. We would most likely head to the parks after they picked up our luggage, and we rarely return to the room mid-day, anyway. DS & I are real pros at navigating the WDW transportation system.

On average, we are used to checking into our rooms around 1-2pm as rooms have been available that early, even though official check-in time is 4pm. I would think that CSR could give me a rough idea of when we could be back to check in......?

NOW, will everyone please toss some PIXIE DUST this way! I really, really, really, REALLY want to take this trip!!

Tossing tons of Pixie Dust your way. Sounds like your going to have a wonderful vacation and you shouldn't have any problems with them transfering your luggage. I am staying at CSR on my upcoming trip as well and can't wait - first stay at CSR. Have a great trip.

Hi,

If you are anything like us, you will love staying at more than one resort per trip. Our October trip will be the first trip that we have not changed resorts out of our last five trips. We normally have a car and get up, pack up, and check out by 8:30-9:00 a.m. Then, we drive to the new resort to check in on paper. Normally the new room is not ready so early so we go the parks after storing the luggage with Bell services. However on at least 2 occasions, a room has been available that early in the morning. So, I guess my advice would be to go ahead and travel to the new resort first thing in the morning and check in...you might get your room. If not, you will be in the front of the line for a good view.

I'm a notorious resort hopper My usual plan is to head to a park after checking out of resort A, and then around 3 or so, leaving the park to go check into resort B. I'm usually ready for an afternoon break by that time anyway, so it works out great!
