We haven't been since the new tickets and dining plan...we are going in January.

Is it not possible to switch resorts and get the dining plan without have 2 complete separate packages (which would make the cost much higher)? :confused3

I know if anyone has figured this out, someone on the DIS has! If anyone has, please help me understand it.

I don't think the dining plan is keyed to your room. Rather, I think it is attached to your MYW tickets. From my understanding, you should be able to get the MYW tickets for however many days you want them, attach the dining plan to that, and book your resort(s) however you want to do that. They should still be able to get it so that you're able to use your room keys at both resorts for park entry and MYW dining.

What may have you confused is the FREE dining packages that people are getting. Some people that already have this are trying to switch resorts and are having some difficulty because they have to book a whole separate package with the free dining discount to achieve a resort switch. I really don't think that's the case if you're just booking the dining package normally and paying for it.

grimley, you've got it completely reversed... dining (paid or free) is tied to the number of nights you are staying at a resort... NOT to the number of days on your MYW tickets...

just as an example, we are going to wdw for ten nights... POFQ for 8 nights, so we get 8 days of dining, but we are buying 10 day MYW tickets because we are switching to AKL after our 8 nights for 2 add'l nights... the dining plan is not available to us for the AKL reservation because a) it is less than three nights and b) we will not need new park/myw tickets...

I'm going in September and getting the free dining. Not sure if the regular dining plan goes by the same rules, but I could not do a split stay as I wanted to do, because I would have to buy 2 "packages" and it would be cost prohibitive. I could however switch my resort as long as it was for the entire stay. So, if the only change you want to make is switch your resort, I'm sure it can be done. Have a great trip! :goodvibes

ok so if I am staying six nights. Sept. 23 -29th.
On the day I leave I dont have the free dinning still?

the free dining (or the paid dining) goes w/the number of nights you stay... so if you stay for 6 nights, you get six days worth of dining, to use whenever/however you'd like... from check in day to check out day, so basically you get six days of meals to use over seven days... you get 6 TS, 6 CS and 6 snacks per person (over 3yo)... you do not have to eat one of each meal on each day but rather you can use up all your TS meals the first day if you want to eat six sit-down meals on day one! (highly unlikely, but do-able) when you use them is up to you... but, the dining credits "expire" after midnight on your check out day...

for example, we check in on sunday, check out on saturday, we have dinner (TS1) on sunday night, breakfast (CS1) and dinner (TS2) on monday, breakfast (CS2) and dinner (TS3) on tuesday, character breakfast (TS4) and dinner (CS3) on wednesday, breakfast (CS4) and dinner (TS5) on thursday, lunch (TS6) and dinner (CS5) on friday, and breakfast before we head to the airport (CS6) on saturday... with snacks scattered in between...

does that help clarify it?

Yes, that does clarify it.

I guess I should've used a different term than "switching". What I meant was, changing resorts mid vacation - staying at two different resorts....like gigi1313 is doing. And just as I suspected....it doesn't work with the dining plan without costing much more.

Thanks,
Jackie
