Switching resorts during a stay?

I'm consideriing a solo "exploratory" trip in October in preparation for taking my children and grandchildren to WDW later on. I'd like to try out three different resorts (WL, AKL and POR) during my stay to (1) see what the resorts themselves would be like for small children and (2) checking out the transportation system. I'll be traveling without a car.

If anyone has switched resorts during a stay, how did you go about getting your luggage transferred between resorts? I travel light and could conceivably put my stuff in a locker while in the parks, but would prefer just to have it moved on to my next resort. Suggestions?

I am going to move you over to the Resort board. But I want to tell you, we switched resorts for POR to the BWI. We had a rental car we picked up on the day of the switch.

Otherwise, you can make arrangements for Bell service to pick up your bags and then have them transferred over to your new resort. WDW does this for you.

I enjoyed having a split stay, but it was sort of exhausting to pack everything up and move, but it was worth it.

Come on back to the trip reports board and let us know how your vacation went, or post on the pre-trip board and let us know about the rest of your planning.

It is very easy to switch resorts. Just take your luggage to bell services and ask them to take it to the next resort. Go about your business and mid afternoon go to your new resort and check in(or go right away to check in, knowing the room probably won't be ready until mid afternoon). Your luggage will be at the new resort bell services by about 3:00. My biggest concern in the move is that I will automatically return to the old resort without thinking. :rotfl: I think it's a great idea to preview three places solo, preparing for a future trip.

Thanks. I posted to three boards since I wasn't sure where to put it. I hope I don't end up annoying people :confused3
