I am planning my upcoming trip for December and planning to do a couple of nights at the Poly before switching to the Boardwalk. I have it planned so that my TS and CS credits will for sure be used up by breakfast of the day that I am making the switch, but the question is this..

Do I have to PHYSICALLY check in at the resort in order to get my new allotment of credits? Or if I do the online check-in thing with DVC, will those credits automatically show up on my magic band? AND if there is a problem will they be able to address it at the Poly or will I have to go to the Boardwalk to get it resolved?

Mostly trying to plan lunch for that day and considering one last lunch QS lunch at the Captain Cook's but I would need to use the new allotment of credits since we are doing BoG breakfast that morning. I'd like to go to MK, get breakfast, do a last couple of things there, go back to the Poly to get the car but before we leave have lunch there (or at MK) and then drive over to Boardwalk to check in there. Or do I need to plan a lunch in Epcot area?

Thanks!

Nothing is ON your magic band. The band reads whatever is on your My Disney Experience account. The question is, will the account be activated for the second reservation such that you can use the dining credits, without your having to actually go to the second resort to check in.

I think someone who has used the dining plan on two consecutive reservations will have to answer that. But when I do split stays, even if I do the online check-in, I don't ever get a notification from MDX regarding the second reservation as to whether the room is ready. I always have to go to the desk at the second resort. I don't know how that translates for dining plan use.
