Switching Resorts-booked through USAir

A few months ago I booked our first trip (since childhood) to WDW through USAir vacations- I picked POFQ, but now that I've looked at so many resort pics, I would LOVE to stay at a deluxe. Because we booked through an outside company, the hotel won't recieve our info until three days before our trip and the reservation office only has access to our name, dates and resort and can't change anything. Has anyone waited until just before their trip to try to switch resorts? I did try calling usairways, but can't make a change through them without a HUGE fee. Ideally, I'm really hoping I can call a few days before the trip, switch to a different resort and pay the difference- does anyone know if is this at all possible? Next time I'm definitely booking through Disney!!

Until you are standing at the desk checking in US Airways "owns" the reservation. You won't be able to do anything with it until you arrive at the resort.

If you want to make change you need to deal with US Airways.
