Switching plans at last minute?

Due to some unforeseen circumstances, it looks like I will be having to cancel my trip from Aug 17-25 and I'm hoping to reschedule for sometime in Oct/Nov. Has anyone done this? Do I have to cancel and rebook or can I just tell them I want to move my trip. I understand that there will be a change of reservation fee...but will I pay the cancellation fee? If anyone has experience doing this at the last moment, please let me know how it worked out...thanks!

I am not sure how that works. Hopefully, a bump back to page 1 will get you a response. If that does not work maybe you could try the the resorts board.

Well you aren't exactly last minute. I have rescheduled our mini vacations several times with ease. Give CRO a call and I'm sure they'll be able to help without penalty.

We had our trip originally scheduled at Christmas but changed it to June of this year. When I called they said they would "modify" the reservation so no money was reimbursed and then put back for a deposit. Hope this is helpful.

I have done both - cancelled and then re-booked for different dates and also modified after more people joined and we switched dates, moved resorts and added rooms. I have been lucky in the past when I called CRO because I always had great CS reps who went the extra mile to help me out. Just remember to be as nice as you can and try to talk to them a little bit. Even though you may have an idea about where you want to stay ask them their opinion and get them involved a little bit. I have never had to pay a cancellation fee because they have been waived. Now that I am a DVC member, our rules are more stringent.

Call 1-407-934-7639. The CM that you will talk to will make the switch as smoothly as possible. (Be sure to have her/him cancel any meal reservations you may have made as well.) While most folks on this board will be as helpful as possible, that CM is the only one who can really get the job done.
