Hi all,

here is my plan so far..

two nights on site at WDW (AKL is what want but probably will be POP/All star)
two nights Holiday inn downtown disney using points
two nights RPR
two nights holiday inn universal using points

If I don't rent a car how can I transfer to all these hotels. I figure cabs will be easy but expensive.

Any thoughts? too much moving about???

That's way too much moving around for a vacation!

If you want to use your points, I would just book the first 6 nights at Holiday Inn DTD and then cap off your trip with the Royal Pacific.

You can price how much it will cost for transportation from the airport to your hotel and from DTD to universal, and it would not surprise me if you can rent a car for close to the same price, depending on how many are in your party.

I wouldn't want to move that much either. No moving is my motto but moving once would be plenty. You're going to waste time and money moving from place to place.

Way too much moving around for me too. You'll definitely need a car with all of those moves.

We moved once on a Disney trip a few years ago. Free dining at the Pop Century for a few days, then a week in a timeshare. The day we moved was practically a wasted day. We didn't go to the parks at all that day.

I think you'd enjoy your vacation more if you'd just settle in someplace. And that doesn't even address the car issue, which makes it worse (and expensive).

If you switch the order around a little, it will save you one taxi ride. When going from one Disney resort to another, bell services will transfer your bags. All it costs you is a tip at both sides. To get yourself there, you just need to go to a park that day, then catch the bus for the new resort when you're done.

We do this all the time when switching between Disney resorts.

Note, it doesn't work like Disney's Magical Express. You need to call bell services at the new resort and ask them to bring the bags up. They won't be put in your room automatically like bags coming from the airport on DME.

Now,is a planned trip to just WDW or to US .... because if its WDW you can just use a cab and you can book as much hotels as you like. To be honest, thats way to much moving around in ONE vacation. Here's an idea: Go on seperate vacations for each one. If you also want to go to Universal,go there on a seperate vacation so you can stay in one of their actually HOTELS. If you want to mainly go to WDW then stay in an On-Site hotels for complimentary services.

Thats all I can tell you!

I agree. To each their own, but I believe that will really suck up alot of your vacation time. Considering that most check out times at hotels is early (10 or 11 am) and most check ins are not until around 4 pm that may really cause a huge headache.

Just rethink this giving what everyone here has said and then make your choice. Everyone vacations in a different way!

OP here...thanks for all the thoughts everyone. I thought it was way to much moving too but was hoping to save some money.

Cars are not so cheap not sure why everyone advises that. I've priced out cars for my trip and the cheapest was 385. Then I would need gas and pay for parking.

I also wanted to cash in on those points from Holiday inn but maybe I'll save them for my California trip.

My trip is primarily for US and since I'm coming all the way from AZ adding a second trip fro WDW will more than double my costs.

revised plan...how about this with no car.

4 nights WDW (I want AKL but will probably be POP/all stars)
3 nights holiday inn universal using points
1 night RPR for front of line pass

I can take ME to WDW. Mears shuttle to holiday inn and walk or take cab to RPR. Mears shuttle to aiport???

any thoughts on this one? Is this smoother?

Have you considered an Orlando Flexticket, that includes the Universal Parks and the Seaworld parks and just skipping Disney? That would be far less than doing both Disney and Universal.

Also, if you have 3 full days at Universal, you won't need the front of line pass. I would either spend two nights at RP, or not at all.

You should be able to get a small car for around $200. Have you looked on hotwire.com?

hmmm never heard of a flex ticket. Need to research that option. I already have an annual pass to US so I don't need the tickets to it.

OK if front of line pass is not needed then maybe I will do 4 nights at Holiday inn universal using points.

small car for 200 for 9 days????? I checked hotwire and the cheapest is 402.

Ok folks here is another plan for your review

1 night POP/all stars
4 nights holiday inn with points (maybe splurge for one at RPR)
3 nights WDW (I want AKL but might do POP/all stars again)

ME to value, rent car from car center, drive to Holiday inn (free parking at hotel), drive back to car center, ME to airport

Car rental is about 175 for those days but there are no discounts published for July yet so it could be a little cheaper.

This is better than plan one. Still a lot of moving, isn't it?

If saving money is important to you, the number one thing you can do is choose *between* Disney and Universal/Sea World. The way tickets are priced, you are given a big incentive not to visit both of these two options in the same trip. That also lets you choose one "home base" and not have to move.

When we go, we do one or the other. We have never done both in one trip. We might someday, but really there's no need. (And, yes, it is perfectly possible to visit Orlando, not go to WDW, and still have a good time.)

I disagree that you won't need FOTL with 3 days at Universal in July. You most definitley do! Especially if you want to spend a lot of time at WWOHP. Oniste will get you the morning early entry at WWOHP and FOTL.

I'm on the right track then. ;) Moving is ok with me.

As I mentioned earlier...US is my priority for this trip. I would choose between them but it is a long way to Florida from my house. I feel if I am going to spend 5 hours on a plane I want to see it all. Also my US tickets are already paid for so no cost for them. I can pick up WDW tickets for about 280 through my teacher association or other discount site.

I'm sure it is. But I really want to go to both. There is no rock n roller coaster in California and I really like AK. These to me are must dos in Florida.

early entry and FOTL WOOT!!! Not sure if I can afford on site though so I may need to wait in line with the other poor off siters. ;)

Last year in June I was off site and just bought the pass for one day so I could ride all the biggies at least once. Then on the other days I used single rider lines, hit the biggies early and waited for things I really liked. I managed. Butterbeer helps as did the Hogheads ale
