Switching Guests Mid-Stay

Hello! I am in the early stages of planning our next trip and was wondering a few things. My family - myself, husband & 2 kids are planning to go to Disney World next year. My husband can only stay for 1 week because of work vacation time, I wanted to continue to stay there for another week with the kids. My dad is thinking about joining us for the last week of our vacation (after my husband has left).

My questions are:

Do I have to make 2 separate reservations, 1 including my husband and another including my dad, or are they able to note that one guest will change during the trip? I know my dad will be wanting to use DME so he has to be listed on the reservation and didn't know the best way to do this.

If we are able to use one reservation and purchase the dining plan, can my dad use my husband's remaining credits for the last week?

If we purchase a package and have to get my husband 10 day tickets instead of the few days he will use, can we separate his tickets out and upgrade them to non-expiring, while keeping ours the same? I know my dad will have to purchase his own tickets separately.

Thanks for any help!

This is a question that Disney has to answer. Be sure to get the CM's name and have any confirmation #s sent to you by email.

1 - Tickets are issued by name, so - you are correct - hubby & Dad can't share tickets. They will each need their own. Maybe they will sell you a 5-day ticket for DH, then a 5-day ticket for your Dad.

2 - The ME and the Dining plan are also issues to get the answer and confirmation #s from Disney with a CM's name.

When you do get your answers, please post again. I am also curious, as we have a son-in-law/son situation coming up in August.

Good luck in solving your problem. Have a great vacation. :goodvibes

I am almost positive you will have to book two separate reservations, only because of the dining plan. Your dad will not be allowed to use your husband's credits. You should be able to remain in the same room, though.

The easiest way to do it, IMO, is to book a package for the first week and room only for the 2nd week, paying OOP for your meals when your dad arrives. This way your dad will be listed on the room only reservation and will not have trouble using DME. You can have the 2 ressies linked together and have it noted that you would like to stay in the same room. Then when you check in, tell the CM that you have a continuing reservation and would like to keep the same room if possible. You can book the package for the whole time and add your dad to the room when he arrives, but by doing this, you would be charged an extra adult fee since this would show 3 adults in the same room. Your dad would still have to buy his tickets separate and pay OOP for his meals. I don't think there's any way to take your DH off the ressie and add your dad mid trip since it's a package with dining.

As far as tickets on the package, you can certainly upgrade your DH's ticket to non-expiring after you check in. Or you can buy everyone the number of days your DH will use and then the rest of you upgrade to accommodate more days you will be there.

Good luck :).
