Switching from CBR to Dolphin

We are booked @ Caribbean Beach for 9 nights.

We are now considering switching part way thru to a deluxe resort. The Swan & Dolphin interest us.

We booked a package thru WDW pre-paying for 9 nights @ CBR & the ultimate hopper pass... no meal plan booked.

Are we able to switch to Dolphin or Swan and just pay the "extra" cost per night from CBR to say the Dolphin?

CBR has told us we can check out early giving 1 days notice. Just not sure if we would be credited what we paid already towards our final few nights @ say the Dolphin?

Thanks.

hmmm dunno the answer really since the Swan/Dolphin are not owned by Disney. What your best bet may be is forgo the package, get AP's, book half of your stay at CBR using AP discount and then the rest at S/D possible discount with Teacher's Rate or Govt?

Package deals aren't reallly that great a deal. If you are booking for 9 nights with UPH will you be visiting the parks for all 9 days? If not then you are paying for days you aren't using. An AP pays for itself at 8 days and you can usually get a good discount depending on when you are going

It will be two separate transactions if you switch. There is no link between the "Standard Disney Resorts" and the Swan/Dolphin. So you will have to close out your account with CBR and begin new with
S/D. I would assume you have checked on availabilty.

Just as a side, my DW and I just got back from a 6 night stay at CBR
(Jamaica 45) and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, nice room, coffee, and still close to Epcot and MGM....AP rate $84 versus $149 +tax and resort fee at S/D. We had stayed at S/D numerous times before but
the price difference couldn't be justified....for me at least. Good luck!!

Unfortunately for you, these are different resorts even though S/D is on Disney property they are owned by Starwood Hotels which have nothing to do with the Disney resorts. So to answer your question you cannot get credit from one to another. I agree with the previous poster and forgo the package if you really want to split your stay. This past summer I also had prepaid at ASMo and I wound up splitting reservation for the UPH and was told that any credit from the first reservation would NOT be applied to the second even though staying at the same resort! Go figure! We did use the credit up but had to apply it to room charges on the first reservation only. HTH
