Switching existing reservations from one contract/UY to another contract /UY

I'm sure a thread exists about this already but I can't find it.

We have a 2BR and a 1BR booked at Bay Lake Tower for 6 nights on my Poly contract. We've closed on a resale BLT contract (different UY) and I'm expecting my new membership to be available very shortly.

I'd like to move the 2 reservations off the Poly contract and onto the BLT contract. Is this something member services will do? I'm assuming I need to call MS (an experience I haven't yet had) to have this done.

I'm trying to get feedback to avoid a long wait if they're just going to tell me they won't do it.

Also, if anyone can link me to an existing thread on tips for managing 2 memberships, I'd appreciate it. I'm kinda new to the disboards and haven't figured out how to search in a way that gives me the results I actually want. In particular, how does the log in work? Are the 2 memberships treated literally like I'm 2 separate people? Are 2 different emails required for the separate log ins? Other challenges I'm not even thinking of?

I now know I should've bought the same UY, but we bought the BLT to switch our home resort. Now we're thinking about keeping both, but it seems like a headache.

thanks

I don't believe that they will be able to move it between memberships. You might be able to transfer points over to the other membership and then reallocate points but this would only work if the points weren't already banked or borrowed.

Reservations can not be moved from one to another membership.

When you have two UYs, it’s like you are two different owners. They will appear on the same log in, and you toggle between them as you book.

The only way to use points between both memberships together for a single reservation is to transfer points from one to the other.

As already mentioned, banked and borrowed points can not be transferred.

The only way to get it switched is cancel it and try to pick it up quickly. There is a risk to lose it.

I have done this before and it worked, but that is because I first make sure there is something else to book as a back yp, even if not my favorite.

Then I switch things one day at a time..modify and drop a day. Then try to get it back. I then keep doing that because the chances of there being just a waitlist for just one day are less than dropping all at once.

Other than that, put in a waitlist on the new membership, for days at the beginning or end of the trip and try to work it that way.

The only way to safely do it would be to transfer current points from your new contract UY to your old membership UY and then have the points reallocated. Not certain if you're just looking to use those particular home resort points or if it's banked points that you want to use up? If it's banked then no harm in asking if they'll allow you to transfer but the normal answer will be no. And of course the points need to align for use on the dates of reservation you have booked.

Otherwise it's a cancel and rebook.

If both contracts/membership are yours then modify via the member site. Select the same resort, same date and when the contracts come up, select the contract you want to use. This only works if both contracts are yours and you are within the 7 month window. I did this a lot last year when DVC reduced the limit to 50% borrowing and I needed points.

They are two different memberships. Only the contracts on that membership show up as a choice.

Before booking, you choose which membership you want to use.

Your solution works for multiple contracts within one UY.
