Grrrrrrrrrr after reading all the posts and how busy it is at Christmas time hubby is wondering if we shouldnt cancel and go a week later. I think the kids would love it at Christmas there PLUS Dec 29 is our sons 8th birthday and he'd have fun. Should I look into it or should I keep reservations the way it is? (Dec 23-31) please offer your ideas... thanks

My wife has been there over X Mas and says the lines and crowds are unbearable and she isn't one that even minds crowded places and long lines. So our reccomendation is to move the ressie by a week either before or after.

If you can swing it, I would definitely go a week later. Unfortunately, we have no choice cause my DH is doing an organized bike tour from Dec. 27 - Jan. 4th so we'll be there over Christmas break. If you do plan on going during that crazy time, just use all the great DIS tips (like going early - yes, arriving before the parks open; taking a break in the afternoons and planning days off).

Good luck - hey, look at it this way - either way you're going to Disney!!!

Cheers,

well #1 we're early risers.. our son is up anywhere after 5:00 am and we're there for 8-9 days and there are only 4 parks.. Christmas day we werent planning on going to magic kingdom anyways.. our son picked that park for his birthday dec 29. I keep trying to pick the *good* lol

Go a week later - the crowds are quieter and easier to handle! And it is considerably cheaper too!

I would say go for it. It is absolutely beautiful at Christmas time. The decorations, Osbourne Festival of lights and Christmas etc. If you are staying onsite, taking advantage of extra magic hours will help. Going early in the morning. Go home back to the resort around noon and spent time relaxing, swimming, downtown disney etc. and then go back to Disney to watch parade and foreworks. The crowds die down after those and families with young children usually leave the parks! Take advantage of the evening extra magic hours. Magic Kingdom doesn't close some nights till 3 am!

I am going over Christmas and can't wait. We are going Dec 18th- Jan 1st /2008!

Enjoy your vacation

Are the decorations still up for a while after Xmas.. then I would def move the dates

Hubby and I talked about it last night and thats what we said too.. its once in a lifetime.. already booked.. go for it. so we'll fight crowds.. I told him if he's cranky once i'll put him on a time out lol. Charlyann What hotel are you guys staying at? Enjoy your holiday

This is going to be so much fun! Enjoy!

Do Not change your plans. Go at Christmas time at least once. The activities at the parks and resorts leading up to Christmas day are both fun and amazing.
I have done it with the children over the holidays 6 times with the children and would do it every year if I could afford it

the more I think about it the more I think we'll just keep it the way it is. If hubby finds the crowds too bad he can go back to the hotel and lay by the pool.

We will be going to WDW this year for the Christmas Holidays. This will be our third Christmas at Disney. We stay at Fort Wilderness in our travel trailer. The parks are very busy during this time and we use the Extra Magic Hours whenever possible. Last year we went to Typhoon Lagoon on Dec.24th and it was not very busy at all. I believe the temp. was in the low 70s but to our Canadian bodies it felt pretty warm. We had a great day! Another favourie activity of ours during the day when the parks are busy is touring the other resorts to see their Christmas Decorations. We use the WDW buses , monorail,or boats to make the experience more "disney". Some of the resorts have elaborate gingerbread displays and all have a different themes. Use the busy park times to rest up for EMH and enjoy the resort pool. Our children enjoy the vacation and we don't end up overtired or stressed battling the huge crowds. Have a wonderful holiday:santa:

I figure we've got 9 days so we can just take it slowly. We're not going to be at Magic Kingdom Christmas day so thats a plus. We were told however that Typhoon Lagoon would be closed while we're there for refurbishment.

The kids will also be 15 and 8 so I figure they're old enough to take in the later hours.

Typhoon Lagoon will be closed at Christmas, however Blizzard Beach will be open. If my memory serves me right Blizzard Beach reminds me of Christmas.

I would strongly recommend getting touring plans such as TGM, probably the best money you will ever spend (only 20.00)! Good Luck!

If you plan for crowds you'll be fine!
I'll be down there too at that time. Be not afraid :thumbsup2

*YAY* for little towns outside of Ottawa lol.. What resort are you guys staying at?

Well it looks like we aren't far from each other. I work near Hull (just on the otherside of the bridge on the Ontario side).

We are staying at POR. How about you?

We still have to work out the flights though. SO expensive....

We are so glad we are going over Christmas! We were going to go a week later but figured that in reality the cost savings wouldn't be that much if we stayed in town over Xmas.
