switching at 7 months

I am trying to plan my very first DVC trip so please excuse my ignorance. I have contracts at both BRV and BCV and have a reservation set for BRV in Jan 2019, which used up all of my 2018 BRV points. At the 7 month window I am going to try to switch to a more expensive resort/room. Assuming there is availability at this more expensive resort, is there a way to have the system borrow my 2019 BRV points rather than automatically taking from my available 2018 BCV points? (I was hoping to bank those BCV points for the following year when Star Wars Land is open).

And if not, can I call MS later and have them rearrange the points (i.e. put my 2018 BCV points back into my account and instead apply my 2019 BRV points)?

Yes, you’ll have an option to select which contracts to use and you’ll be able to borrow from either one. If you only select the one contract for BRV, you’ll be forced to borrow.
