Switching appetizers rather than main courses?

I have ADRs at Spoodles for dinner during my upcoming trip.

I'm more interested in the appetizers than the main courses. Do you think they'll let me order an app and a dessert rather than a main course and a dessert?

This is often allowed, one appetizer in exchange for one entree, but it is up to the individual location.

My DD 10 did this swap out at Tutu Italia. The only problem was it was an adult meal plan since she is 10 the appetizer she wanted was on the kids menu for appetizer and that is what they brought her. The same amount her little brother and sister had. So needless to say she had a very small meal. I should have asked for if they could subsitute an adult size portion for it since she was using an adult entree.

Yes, it's up to the individual restaurant, and many apparently do permit this. However, it is one appetizer for one entree, and no reduction in price. You could ask for an increase in portion size, which may or may not be granted.
