We had a great 4th of July trip at the Poly all planned out, but in the interest of seeing how everything rolls out we pushed off our trip to Thanksgiving week - arriving the sunday before turkey day and leaving the sunday after. Not ideal but it allows our kids to miss only a few days of school.

We are excited to see Christmas decorations, have better weather than July and we will be in a 2BR at OKW! So we are trying to look at the positives. I think the only negative we are seeing are the predicted crowds. 10's on touring plans, but I think the new "normal" of social distancing might work in our favor with the crowds being lighter.

Any Thanksgiving tips you have?

We have gone at NYE (actually my first WDW trip ever) so we have experienced crazy crowds. We will be back in April 2021 so we don't have to do everything. We might plan a nice thanksgiving meal at Cali grill (yup that was booked for July) and we certainly want to try out Olivias - we always see great reviews from there.

We have been over Thanksgiving (2018) and XMas and NYE (2019) - of course all before the new normal. They were comparable - you'll have Christmas decorations up, and maybe hopefully a MVMCP? The only really awful busy days were Wednesday and Thursday of Thanksgiving week, and really only at MK. The other parks were doable. I'd use the same kind of touring strategy for either - use your FP (or VQ or whatever they have in place), only do standby if the waits aren't horrific, plan a few more meals than you normally would. I actually found NYE to be far worse in terms of crowds than Thanksgiving. (Don't plan on eating QS that day - either use an ADR or cook in your villa - the lines at all the QS at World Showcase were 60min+ starting in the early afternoon on NYE).

There is also a members thanksgiving dinner at BLT, we did not go to that but many restaurants had special traditional menus on Thanksgiving - we did WCC and it was wonderful and so much fun. We had narrowed it down to Liberty Tree Tavern, BLT or WCC. I really think you can't go wrong.

LOVE Thanksgiving time... we are considering same thing as our trip is end July.. but worried virus will come back during that time.. who knows... I am trying figure out what to do...ugh

We just booked Thanksgiving week as I’m sure our May 22 poly trip isn’t happening. I was able to grab Poly for 20-25 then Saratoga was my only option for 25-28 but that’s fine. We did Thanksgiving last year and it was pretty great. Crowds were decent then started to pick up day before thanksgiving.
