We'll I cancelled our Dolphin ressies for 2/27 - 3/6, and am staying at POR. The poscard rate of $104/night was to good to pass up (over $600 savings). I just hope I made the right choice. I really had my heart set on the Dolphin, and had all my plans set around staying there, now back to the drawing board.

So, please tell me I'll be happy at POR.
PS - I tried to convince DH to split our stay, 3 nights Dolphin 5 nights POR, but that was a big "NO WAY!!!"

You will love POR. It is one of the most charming properties I have ever seen. I am somewhat of a hotel snob and I would stay there again in a hearbeat! I loved strolling over the brigde every morning to fill up my mug for the day. Even if you don't like it, $600 will put you well on your way to your next WDW visit. I would be very suprised if you didn't though. Enjoy!

POR is WONDERFUL!!!! You will be very pleased with your choice:tongue: I'll be surprised if this isn't your new favorite resort.:bounce: :Pinkbounc

but, I love POR. It has such a relaxed , laid back feel to it. The grounds are beautiful. and I agree with msteddom, walking over the bridge to get to the Main Hall is a lovely walk. We enjoyed the pool bar, and you have to visit the River Roost lounge one night to catch Piano Bob!! He puts on a great show for all ages!!

While not a deluxe, it has the feel of one with the grounds and theme.

Enjoy!! Wish I could go with you!!

You've made a great choice. Make sure to visit Bob Jackson at the piano bar as Pryncess'mom suggested.

We are there the same time you are!

Have a great time.

Hawk.

BRRRRRRRRR its cold in Vermont! :smooth:

Is this something I need reservations for? Would it be appropriate for an 11 & 8 yo boys? Times? Thanks!

:bounce: You're going to WDW!!!! and staying on-property. You'll be fine. I have stayed at both and enjoyed both resorts. I do love staying at a deluxe but saving $600 is nothing to sneeze at. Staying on property is the most important thing --- IMHO.

Have fun!

No reservations necessary. I would get there before the start time of 9:00 pm in order to get a good seat. It is very appropriate for your children as the music and comedy program is very family orientated.

You and your family will love it. (See you there!)

We've stayed at both POR and the Dolphin. We enjoyed our stay at both places. I would definitely choose POR over the Dolphin if it saved me $600! I could think of lots of things to do with that $600 - a character meal, a nice dinner, some Mickey Bars, etc.

You will love it. Request a room in one of the mansion buildings. That made it seem very "deluxe" to me. I felt like Scarlett O'Hara.

I'm feeling a little better about our decision. Like Mouseteacher said, we will be at WDW and on-prpperty. Can't ask for much more than that. Thanks to all who gave info on piano Bob, he sounds like fun, and hopefully we can check him out.

Hawk... see you there!!

Another hotel snob reporting!!! :wave2: and I absolutely looooved POR and yes .... I have stayed at the Dolphin. I really liked the Dolphin, you are only a walk or a boat away from Epcot and MGM, but, POR has become my favorite. It is such a beautiful resort and so relaxing. After spending a hectic day running around in the parks you come home to this serene and peaceful looking hotel.Priceless!! Now, I sound like the Master Card commercial ::yes:: You can also rent bikes and boats at POR and as a bonus you have the boat to downtown Disney . Plus, you are saving $600.....that's a lot of Mickey bars!! :hyper:

You've made a great decision!! Have fun!!

Personally, I would be ecstatic. I love POR. Never stayed at Dolphin, but it really doesn't do anything for me.

I actually moved my rez for May from WL to POR. I loved WL, but I love the convenience of POR with the food court and it's proximity to downtown disney (where I spend WAY too much time :p ).

If you never stayed at either then you should be happy because you can't make a comparison and weren't spoiled (like me)..staying at many deluxes before staying at POR when it was DL I must say I was not impressed BUT I AM SPOILED!!

Save the Dolphin stay for when you really want a "PRIMO" trip and then you'll find out what you were missing! BUT, I've stayed at both and know what to compare.

For the Record, the S/D are fabulous places to stay for those that have turned away from these WONDERFUL resorts! After sleeping in a "heavenly bed" at the Swan (and the Dolphin is about to have similar beds in all of their rooms as well)..don't even think I could stay in a Disney Deluxe anymore!!!!!!

I think you made a great choice. POR is beautiful. I love the little touches by the mansions, like the fountains, gazebo, etc. It really is a pretty resort. :)

We stayed at POR as our first on-property splurge back when I turned 30.

Next week we leave for my 40th at WDW. We loved POR so much that we nearly stayed there again, even though this decade B-Day splurge wish is the Contemporary.

You'll love it! Pictures of the pool still put a silly smile on my face.

I could have gotten a rate of 149 at the Swan for my upcoming trip. This would have only been a 5 dollar difference for POR. I have never stayed at the Swan. I have stayed at POR and found it very charming. In the end I decided to book our stay at POR.
