Taking our 7yr old grandson to Disney this summer! We will be staying for 3 nights and have a reservation at Pop in a preferred pool view room. A garden view room at POFQ just came available and would be $200 more total for the 3 nights. Is it worth the additional cost? Thank you for any opinions and advice :)

I have stayed at both. It's hard to define "worth it" because that varies from family to family. I would personally make the switch for that price. POFQ is a great resort and the grounds are very pretty.

Yes :) Pop is massive (largest resort on property I believe) while POFQ is much smaller. Makes getting around easy after a long day of walking in the parks. Amenities are better and you can also use POR amenities. The boat to Disney Springs is a nice bonus as well

Also, two real beds vs. a bed and pull down at Pop.

Yes I would switch. POFQ has queen beds with bigger rooms, pretty grounds, the resort is smaller so less walking and a nice boat ride to Disney Springs. I thought Pop beds were uncomfortable and the buses were always packed.

Have you stayed at Pop since the renovation? They now have queen beds that are very comfortable. As comfortable, or even more so, than POFQ. I also like the glass shower doors as opposed to a curtain and the solid door to the sink area as opposed to a curtain. But I like the size of POFQ, and the proximity to Disney Springs, and the theme of the resort more than the theme at Pop.

I have stayed at both and like both a lot. I would switch if you are planning some resort time into your stay as POFQ has a more relaxed feeling than Pop. But if you plan on maximizing your park time, then the room and resort are less important.

One thing to note - at most of the parks the Pop bus stop will be farther away than the POFQ stop, if that makes a difference. I believe the only park where Pop is closer is AK.

I have not stayed at Pop, but we have stayed at POFQ and love it!

Our kids were 3 and 6 at the time. They loved themed dragon slide and the boat to DS. There is a splash pad area now, too.

Pop is a much larger, much more spread out resort. It has significantly more rooms.

Both resorts have been recently updated.

Transportation at FQ is simple and efficient, in our experience.

As PPs have said, it might depend on how much time you plan to spend at the resorts.

One of the reasons we love FQ is because it is so much smaller.

Yes, Pop is much bigger then POFQ, but if you’ve booked a preferred pool view, you will be right by the pool and very close to the main building, transportation and bridge to AofA so the size of the resort won’t matter.

Pop has a fun, energetic vibe. POFQ is quieter and more subdued. It depends on what you’re looking for.

No I have not been there since the renovation. Glad they have gotten new beds.

POP:

newly refurbished rooms
Skyliner open when you are going? plus or negative?\
across the bridge from AoA
lower price
fun atmosphere

POFQ

beautiful resort with nicer landscaping
larger rooms
2 real beds
boat to DS
walk to POR
rooms close to everything/small resort
pool slide
can use pools at POR as well

I would look at pictures online to see which appealed more to my family.

FWIW, personally I would upgrade to POFQ.

Pop is very "teen" to me. Maybe it's because I took 36 of them over spring break last year! But we were also surrounded by very many other teen groups, sports groups, bands, etc. My DS8 loved it, as did all the teens. I appreciated the renovated rooms. Definitely more of an upbeat, exciting vibe overall.

POFQ will feel more sophisticated and "grown-up". Also, Pop century rooms are only 260 square feet while POFQ are bigger at 314 sf. You will feel a much more relaxed vibe at POFQ, especially with the boat ride to DS.

It’s a short stay, so will you really take advantage of the boat to DS? Pop, especially the preferred rooms are close to food court and bus stop. But the bus stops from the parks back to the resort are faaaaar away from the park gates.
The refurbished rooms at pop are beautiful and the beds are very comfy. Unless you really think a pool slide is important, I would stay at pop and use that $200 for a party of some sort.

I've stayed at both and I don't think you'd be disappointed at either - there are some pro's and con's to making the move:

Pros:
  • POFQ is a short bus ride to MK and EP ( very easy if you have a car as well ). Pop is not too much further but it's not as short as from POFQ.
  • Theme - the theme at POFQ is more immersive than at Pop. Pop's is a geared towards kids.
  • Rooms are slightly larger at POFQ.
  • POFQ is a smaller resort, making everything within a good walking distance from the buses and parking.

Cons:
  • Additional cost - 200.00 could be a meal or two.
  • Neither resort has a TS restaurant - if that's important to you then I would check POR.
  • Food Court - I liked the Food Court at Pop more - I thought it offered more options than the one of POFQ.

For me, it would depend on how much time I was planning on staying at the resort itself. If you think you'll be at the parks most of the time and just sleeping in the room then I'd probably stay at Pop.

When is the skyliner suppose to be open?

Well, POP is not that big..imho at all. And, we love it. The values are great. for 200 id probably go with POFQ though. As much as we like POP.. POFQ is the best resort on property if you ask me..
