My TA just called and offered me Cat. 2 #8016 instead of my Cat.3 #8046. I have until the disney computer systems comes back up to decide. From the pictures I can find it looks like the Cat.3 room looks nicer? Is it just a back picture????I would appreciate any feedback on anyone who has stayed in these 2 rooms, I really don't need the extra bedroom. THANKS!!!!

Go for the Cat. 2!!!!!! We're staying in 8016 in just four weeks and we've stayed in it before. It is awesome. Pictures don't do the suite justice. JHMO When are you cruising?

If it's a free upgrade i'd bite their hands off, Cat 2 sleeps up to 7 has 2 beds, a whilpool tub and a triple wide verandah, only 2 catergory 2 suites onbard, it's on deck 8
cat 3 8046 is also on deck 8 but has one bed, two baths, a double sofa and a double verandah.

Cat 3 is 614 sq ft and cat 2 is 945 sq feet so alot bigger too, they both look gorgeous but i think the extra rooms would swing it for me, have a great cruise.

We are sailing Feb. 2005. Have you seen the 3 Cat. to compare them? Is all the extra space taken up with the extra bedroom?

I'm just looking in the passporter and it doesn't seem that way, there is a massive lounge with large dining table and bar, and two good sized bedrooms, the lounge looks to be about the size of the cat 3 and 1/2 again and the beds look the same size.
if you go on the dcl site using this link http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/d...dex?id=C3OneBedroomSuiteWithVerandahStateroom it takes you to a layout of the cat 3 and cat 2 and cat 2 does look a lot bigger, i'm just throwing in the dcl dvd to see what they look like.

okay i've just gone and watched the dcl dvd for you and they both look GORGEOUS, just toss a coin and take whatever lands. Happy cruising.

8046 looks as if it's located under the whirlpools at the Goofy (family) pool. Might get kind of noisy and you might hear chairs/loungers being moved around early in the morning. We hardly heard any noise in 8016. Also, murphy bed is located in the bedroom in this suite rather than in the living room. HTH

THANKS SOOOOOO MUCh FOR ALL YOUR HELP!!!!!!! I have the video from DCL but not the DVD. I take it, the DVD shows Cat. 2 and 3 rooms? I watched the VHS tape and it did not.

Yes, the DVD shows Cat. 2 and Cat. 3 rooms. DVD has so much more than the VHS tape. Is Disney offering to switch you from 8046 to 8016 at no charge? If so, I'd jump on it. Can you tell I love the Cat. 2??? LOL

I do not have to decied until Tuesday morning seeing the DCL is down until then. I am going to watch the DCL DVD tonight at a friends house to check out the suite. But from what I am reading from you all, I think I will go for it. THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!

you are totally nuts if you don't take the upgrade....
i can't believe they're offering it to you this far out..

remember that not all cat 3 staterooms are the same...
some are MUCH bigger and much better laid out than others...
if memory serves, the one you're in, is not one of the good ones...
i think that the good cat 3 staterooms are 8032, 8034, 8532, 8534......
we stayed in 8534 and it was amazing....but people who were further down (not in one of the 4 mentioned above) complained bitterly about the cramped size and about how it's not fair that our cat 3 stateroom was so much bigger than theirs (and i have to say, it DID look a lot bigger)...

but even if it were between the cat 3 i was in and a cat 2, i would go for the cat 2...

we're going in a cat 1 this summer....i can't wait....

On our first cruise, we had one of the Cat 3 rooms in the very back booked, the one with the huge verandah.
While we were at the Poly before the cruise, DCL left a message on our phone telling us that they had moved us to the Cat 2 (complimentary). I was soooo bummed, I'd had my heart set on that big verandah.
The minute I stepped into the Cat 2...I just about died! I was so glad I had not been in the hotel room when that call came, for fear I would have told them no!
I have now sailed only in the Cat2 (only twice) and would KILL to have it again for our next two cruises. We ended up booking two connecting, because we have gotten so spoiled by the extra space.
If you don't take the Cat 2 when you have the opportunity, you will regret it forever. There is no comparison between the two rooms you are talking about!!!
Please, trust us on this one!!!!!!!!

This will be complimentary!!!!!!!! there was some kind of mix up with the TA and that room was promised to someone else and they didn't want the Cat. 2 room even for FREE!!! So there is no price increase just myself agreeing to change rooms. My friend can't find the DVD but I am going to take everyones word for it and take the Cat. 2. Really my only concern was we really do not have the use for the 2nd bedroom and I thought that the extra space was taken up by another bedroom added. I cared more about the living room space and master bedroom area.

5boysplus, go with what feels right for you, if you're not sure go with what you booked as that is what you originally wanted but it does look gorgeous and is free, If there's only the 2 of you then you won't be short of space if there's 4 you can go in seperate rooms either way have a wonderful cruise and let us all know how it turned out. Also don't forget if you're getting moved to the 2 , someone else may be getting you're 3 and so on and everyones happy :D

5boysplus, I am so glad you've decided to take the Cat. 2. I know you will not regret it!!!

5boysplus......How many of you are going?
Even if you don't use the other bedroom, there is still more living room space in the 2 bedroom.
The only thought I have about NOT moving, is that if there are only 2 of you going, maybe you should keep the 1 bedroom, and let DCL give the 2 bedroom to some family that has several kids, that may need the extra bedroom space.
