Switch reservations after getting PIN code?

Ugh. We just booked at the CSR to go in June, using the Kids Play Free promo. Kept hoping for Free Dining pin, and yesterday it came! Yay! But, the dates don't match up for when we want to go, and it has to be at a deluxe resort. I priced it out anyway, and it came to be about $100 more than what we have currently.

So, do we switch to stay at a Deluxe Resort? Is it worth it? We stayed at AKL 2 yrs ago and really liked it, but it might be nice to try something different, and we're not in the room all that much anyway, right?

We could keep our reservation and use the pin to get free QSD, but we'd have to pay OOP for any FSD reservations we already set up. (I think.)

Would you switch resorts to get the FD? And pay $100 more for that upgrade?

Does the pin you got require a deluxe resort or just give you the pricing for if you stay deluxe? The free dining pin I got lists the pricing for staying a Deluxe resort, but I just used it to stay at Pop. Of course, it's only quick service dining at Pop, but I was able to upgrade to the regular DDP and still saved $400 over the GP room discount.
See if the offer says something along the lines of "Ask about other resorts and length of stays"

First, if you have the e-mail where you can book online, use it to price a mod stay. My e-mail says 5-night/5-day stay, but I used it to price a 3-night/2-day stay and pushed the "book" button and it never once said that it was the wrong # of nights.

Second, which deluxe came up as being $100 more than your current reservation? There are cheaper deluxes and more expensive ones, so the one you choose may cost more than $100 extra.

Truthfully, even if you can book a mod with your FD PIN, getting a deluxe for $100 extra may be totally worth the expense.

We were able to upgrade our free QSDP to the basic dining plan for only $10 more an adult per night or $3 more per child. I would pay $100 more to stay in Deluxe over value any day though. I just prefer the theming, pools, sit down restaurants more.

Yeah baby!! Thanks all for your comments. I priced it out again online, using the pin, keeping our existing resort and options, but upgrading the QSDP to the regular plan, and it was a little less than it was with the Kids Play Free promo.

Heck, we can use that extra little bit to help pay for airfare!

I called, and the CM changed it for us.

I didn't realize we could just upgrade to the regular dining using the pin for quick service.
