switch from room only to package

I just wanted to pass on some info I learned last night...

I called to price package deals (obviously no deals yet...)-we're going in early Dec. and I just wanted to have all the different numbers in front of me in case a new package deal shows up before AP rates do...anyway...I've already paid around $600. on our current ressies, some of which was paid using gift Mastercards-so I asked if the money just gets transferred from a room only ressie to a package ressie.

-it doesn't...they refund the money to your original credit card....
so what happens if you used one of those gifts cards?? Well...either the money is reapplied (which aprarently is a $5.00 fee for each card that may have been used) or if the card is no longer activated, they issue a check which can take more than 30 days to receive.

This was all news to me, and again, who knows if we'll even switch to a package deal-I just wanted to pass on the info...

That is interesting news...we don't have a huge credit limit on our credit card...too many mistakes when we were younger ruined our credit. So, I have been paying monthly on our Room only resie with the credit card, paying it off, and then paying again...almost have our room paid off now.
I don't think we will be switching to a package, but I am definitely hoping for a code to use...do you think this will be handled in a similar way?
If so...we might be in trouble...I am thinking the money would be credited to our credit card, but our limit would not allow us to then charge the new amount?

I'm pretty sure that if you switch codes but stay with room only rates, you'll be fine.

In fact today I called to switch our ressies from 4 nights at WL/4 nights at Poly GCV to all 8 nights WL, and at first the CM told me they would refund the money from the Poly to my credit card(s)-well I was upset because I knew I'd have trouble with the whole use of the Mastercard gift cards (I don't know if I even know where the cards are anymore-they were for a specific amount-I applied the amount and thought I was done with them, much like a gift card from a store). Anyway, they were able to transfer the money I had put on the POLY to money I now owed for the WL.
