Switch from POFQ to CR?

We are a family of three, myself, DH and will be 2 1/2 DS at the time of our trip. I booked a trip for us for Nov. 30 to Dec. 8 this year at POFQ, thinking/hoping that we would get free dining, which looks like is not going to happen. I am hoping room only discounts will come out and include our dates; however I've been reading that POFQ usually only has about a 5% discount. Now I'm thinking of just switching us to the CR because it looks like there is usually a bigger discount there. I would still end up paying about $500 more than FQ, but being so close to MK and EP for our son might be well worth it! Thoughts on this? We have never stayed at CR but have stayed at WL and loved the proximity to the parks. Is CR a good resort for a 2-year-old? Is it too loud and noisy? We would just get a standard room. Anything special I need to consider? Of course, all of this would be dependent on room only discount rates coming out! Thanks!

the mods usually get a 25% discount

Except POFQ apparently tends to be less (because it's so small, they have no trouble filling it up). I know when I stayed at POFQ this year (Feb Value season, before Pres Day), the room only discount from Disney for POFQ was 5%. Luckily I already had a 20% AAA discount.

Yes!!! Stay at CR! After Going to magic kingdom for a day, you WILL get tired and CR is the first stop! Thank gosh!! Epcot is only a 10-15 minute monorail and usually the monorails aren't crowded. Have a great time :)

walk to the MK (it is alot quicker than taking the monorail) - take the monorail (Or walk) back to Cr.

think you will appreciate CR much more - the rooms are big - probably 3 times bigger than POFQ.

It depends on what you want. POFQ was quiet and relaxed. It felt like we were away from it all. When at CR (stayed at BLT) for shopping, meals, or monorail it had a different feel. A closer to the magic type feel! Can't beat the location of CR!

My toss up is ALWAYS between POFQ and the Poly. Of the three monorail resorts, I feel that the Poly is by far the most kid friendly. And being able to walk quickly over to the TTC to catch the Epcot monorail makes it better in my opinion.

But I only spend the extra $$ for the Poly when I need more than 2 beds. With just the 3 of you, I would stay put at POFQ. The food court is better, the pool is better, the buses aren't bad (much better than POR), and the boat to DTD is super. Plus, with POFQ, you can share all things POR too....that gives you 2 awesoem food courts, 7 pools, fishing, surrey bikes, just so so much for the money. But you still have the small size of FQ.

Anyhoo...between POFQ and CR?? I would stay at POFQ. If Poly was in the mix...well then it gets more difficult for me :confused3
