Hello,

What do you place around the bottom of your child's swingset to protect it from mowing or from a lawn edger? I'm concern that when I edge and mow that the wood will get destroyed.

Sorry, I didn't know who to ask this question to. However, parents on this forum have always been very helpful.

Thanks in advance!:)

We actually have mulch surrounding ours. It helps cushion them if they fall. You could also use sand (make sure it is playground grade)

Round up. Spray the bottom and you won't have to weed wack around it.

No tips but just wanted to let you know we have had our swingset for 7 yrs now and have all grass surrounding it and never had any protection from mowing and edging and haven't had any problems. We use a landscaping service that I can tell you is NOT careful about hitting into things and it has been fine.

Wood chips all the way under and around it. 12 inches is recommended for saftey. Swing sets over grass are just asking for trouble. Just ask my oldest DS who broke his arm falling off a swing set at his friends house. As PP mentioned sand also works, but it attracts neighborhood cats who think it is a giant litter box.

We made a big pea gravel box/pit under our entire swing set. The kids love playing with it, it cushions their fall, and no mowing under the swingset. It's also less messy than sand and doesn't attract cats.
