I am probably more scared of the swine flu vaccine than the actual swine flu. First off, I do not like that our school nurses give out the shots. Are school nurses qualified and trained to give us these shots? When we donated blood last year, a lot of kids had purple arms because the people doing it stuck the needle in wrong. And some kid got paralyzed from the swine flu vaccine, although I think it was because he was allergic to eggs. I'm fine with shots, I actually just got my regular flu shot yesterday, but I don't like that it's a new vaccine and it's being done in schools. I think there should be the option of getting it done at your doctor's office.
But, I don't think I'm worried about the swine flu. It's basically the same thing as the regular flu. A girl in my psychology class had swine flu, but she came back to school a week later and said it was just like having the regular flu.

i'm more upset that schools can possibly talk children into getting the vaccine, when parents aren't around to say no. my child would not be vaccinated by a school nurse, they would be vaccinated at my physicians office.

i went to school where school nurses couldn't give me tylenol, but they can give shots now? umm. no, not too comfortable with that.

ya im worried about getting the swine flu shot cuz
1.)im VERY frightened of shots.
2.)i dont wanna gt sick of it like people in the 80's

honestly, i'm not that worried.

its no different that normal flu in some ways. it is just now hitting where i am from just in this last past month and a half and im not really worried

My youngest brother and oldest little sister just got theirs. It wasn't the school nurse who administered them. They were nurses from the county.

I would get one!! Much less worse than the actual flu.

THIS is what pisses me off so much. If I'm even caught with tylenol in a bag that's not registered by the nurse, I'd be immediately expelled under the school's no tolerance policy. We're only allowed to have medication if we have a prescription for it and it's in the nurse's office at all times. My school is also administering swine flu shots for free. No thanks, I'll pass.

In a lot of areas it's only available for the kids at the school. The general public hasn't gotten a hold of it yet there, so it wouldn't be available at a doctor's office, Shelby. Schools nurses are most likely always RNs; so they're more than qualified to administer it.

oh, i don't doubt that they're qualified, what i have issues with is that the school boards are okay with nurses giving kids SHOTS, but not giving them tylenol for a headache. that just seems more than a little messed up to me.

well right now, i care very much about it.
my friend's mom passed away tuesday afternoon from h1n1 complications;
her wake is today and the funeral is tomorrow.
so yeah. . . . :/

Oh god the Norwalk virus is awful. Not that I've had it, more like I'm absolutely terrified of ever having it.
It goes through the universities here quite often.

What I remember of it, it really, really sucked. I don't think I got out of bed for three or four days except to puke and go to the bathroom.

as far as we know, no.
but there have been rumors that she had a heartache..
it all started about a week ago and now today, we're saying goodbye for the last time. :/

i'm not sure if i had the swine flu or not. 3 girls on my volleyball team (including the daughter of the women above) had confirmed swine flu cases and i was sick for two weeks..i had every symptom but a fever. but i'm hoping to get the swine flu shot asap.

Mm, that's basically what it is.
Some people describe it as you're basically leaking from both ends. You're sitting on the toilet and holding a garbage can in one hand.
They're probably exaggerating, but that would just be awful.

I had swine flu. It wasn't as bad as everyone made it seem. I actually thought it was just the normal flu until I got it diagnosed.
