Swine Flu

I never said that I thought it was ok for the baby to die. I feel awful for him and his family. My thoughts go out to them.

And yeah, I understand that accidents don't spread like illnessness. All I was trying to say was that you'd have more of a chance right now of those type of things happening than catching and dying of swine flu.

IMO (and you may think differently-that is ok with me. I don't care.), there is no need to panic because of this one death (and as far as I know, there has only been one). When hundreds of people start dying, however, then I'd understand the panic.

I think some people are freaking out because about like 170 people died from in in a matter of 2 weeks.

but Its like what Obama said, "It's a cause of concern, but no need to panic" :thumbsup2

2 confirmed cases in FL. Apparently, the kids who have it got it from Disney World.

I heard there was a man that had it and went to disney world. Maybe they got it from him.

So it really was only 1?
I didn't know that 1 of the people who died wasn't an American citizen...my bad.

There is no second person. Just one person in the US has died, and it was a 2 year old Mexican citizen who came over here for treatment.

Many more people have died from the swine flu in Mexico though; once again, there is more than one casuality, but only one in the US.

So it's okay for a baby to die just because it has a weaker immune system?

And I don't know where the heck you've been, but 2 people from the US have died.

It's one person. The other person was a Mexican citizen who died in the United States, therefore it is not considered a death in the US.

Well apparently my mom got a rude comment from some lady for buying a box of facemasks. It only has 5 in it.
I guess the lady was saying "you know, you're getting paranoid over nothing". My mom said, "well, if your child was barely 1 year off chemo with a poor immune system, you'd be paranoid too".

Just a thought........
We have always thought pigs couldnt fly....but now with the swine flu, maybe they can? :)

That lady got wrecked.

Where the heck is this second person coming from?

The news is only reporting one death in the US -- a 2 year old Mexican citizen who came over here for treatment.

Yeah, but that was in Mexico. And their health care is nothing compared to ours. That's the whole reason that baby came up here in the first place. Because they weren't able to treat it, they hoped we would, but by the time he got here it was too late.

Think about it guys, we have people with asthma, cancer, diabetes and thousands of other defects/diseases/etc. And for the most part (because I know there are still some cancer cases we're working on. :guilty: ) they're living through it because we're able to treat it! In other countries tho, like Mexico, they don't have the resources to make these people better and that's why you get the higher death numbers.

I had a major reality check the other day, because I saw this video of a bunch of kids in a orphanage (I think it was at Vietnam, but I'm not 100% sure) who had the exact same birth defect that I do. And they were all put into this room called 'the death room', because, according to the lady that was treating them, "they were just waiting to die".

But when they found out I had it, they were able to put me in the hospital right away and get it taken care of! So, as long as none of you are planing on moving to Mexico any time soon, you're going to be ok!

Confirmed cases in FL
:|

We were gunna book for August.
We cancelled Mexico.

They say the virus is in its declining phase tho.

PrincessAriel, please do not cancel your WDW vacation because of this. When people get on planes and go to crowded airports/themeparks there are huge risks of getting some contagious disease! Everyday you have a chance of contacting some disease, every former trip to WDW you have a chance of catching something from someone. It's just life! Don't live in fear of something you may or may not get.

If someone gets the swine flu, there are simple ways to treat it. It's not a death sentence.
