I am sure that this question has been addressed at some time but I have been looking through the wet suit posts and can't quite get my answer... What would you wear into discovery cove? I never wear a swimsuit if I can help it and if I do it's usually with a pair of longish board shorts on top of it. I'm curious as to what would be the easiest thing to wear into the park as we will probably be changing into wetsuits for part of the day. I have never worn a wetsuit in my life and don't know what the deal is for that. Do you just put it on right over your swimsuit (for women) or is it sans swimsuit? Can you swim around the reef and other pools in board shorts and a t-shirt? Just want to get some kind of gauge on what we should wear that morning that would be the most functional thing. Also is there enough room in the lockers they provide for a change of clothes to change into before we leave the park? We have already booked our visit but we don't go till September so we have plenty of time. I'd really appreciate any info you could pass along.

I was afaid to go to DC until someone one here told me I would be able to wear a shirt over my bathing suit and that you dont have to wear the wetsuit.

I find the vest so much better than the wetsuit, some people prefer the wetsuit but I sure dont want to wear one. The vest makes potty breaks much easier.

When you arrive they fit you with a vest or a wetsuit its your choice, the guy seemed to give us smaller sizes than we needed as he said they would bubble up in the water if too big, I had a medium and after awhile I had to unzip it a little so I could breath lol.

Also my vest seemed to be slightly itchy so thats another reason why I wouldnt want the wetsuit plastered on me.

I have worn a shirt and shorts and the dc vest for the past 2 years with no problem.

Our locker was big enough for a change of clothes, we got one locker for the 2 of us.

Oh thank God! Now, I can finally be completely enthralled about going to DC. We have really been looking forward to it but in the back of my mind I wondered just what in the heck I would wear and just how weird they would find it to see me splashing around in my usual attire! Like I said I've never had any experience with the wet suit thing so I imagine I will end up with the vest. Thank you so much for answering my questions and quelling some of my fears about the subject.

I definitely recommend rash guard shirts under the vests - they not only act as sunscreen but they also keep you from getting rubbed under the armpits from the vests. Lands End has them and I think Walmart might have some too.
