Does anyone know anything about
Swimming with the dolphins?
Thanks

:)
You might want to try posting on the Sea World/Discovery Cove forum. There would be others there who can help you.:wave2:

I've researched this extensively and the only other place near Orlando besides Discovery Cove is in St. Augustine (about 1 hour north of Orlando). I think the place is called Marineland.

Other than that, there are a couple of places in the Key West area. The one closest to Orlando (but still probably a 4-5 hour drive) is in Key Largo. It's a place called Dolphins Plus.

Since we are going back to Florida this year for vacation (but not visiting Disney or Universal...time to do something a little different) and will be visiting Busch Gardens instead, we decided to take a side trip to Key Largo to do some snorkeling and to swim with the dolphins.

By the way, Dolphins Plus charges $160 per person for a structured dolphin swim. I think it's about 45 minutes actually in the water with the dolphins. If I remember correctly, Discovery Cove is much more expensive.

Hope this is helpful.

Thanks for the info. I am really enjoying my first day on the
boards. SOme of the boards have been great with their replies. I think I need to learn to post in the proper areas.
Thanks again:earsgirl:

I swam at Dolphins Plus in October 2000. It took us a long time to drive there and back, 11 hours in total from the Gulf Coast. In total I had 11 minutes in the water with 2 dolphins and this was shared with another participant. It was fun and scary, but a real long drive for just 11 minutes. If you can find somewhere closer then do!

The Dolphin Encounter at Epcot is $150 and includes snacks, a photog with the dolphin and a tee shirt, it is 3 hrs long.

Discovery Cove is about $250 and includes a lot of things- its more like an all day thing.

We did a dolphin 15 years ago on our Honeymoon. The place was a small Marine Park about halfway out on the Keys. At the time it cost us $50 a person for about an hour in the water.
