I *think* I read this somewhere...but I can't recall where to be sure...

I think I read that you can rent swimming jackets/life vests for children at the hotel pools and the water parks. Is this accurate? Anyone know what the rental rates are? Were trying to decide if it's worth the suitcase space to pack our own. :confused3

I don't think you have to rent them...they are just there for you to borrow. If you are supposed to pay...I certainly didn't see anyone doing it! We actually brought our own because they have life jacket styled ones and DD was used to a "bubble" from swimming class. Luckily she can swim w/o either now!

You can borrow them for the length of your stay at on-site resorts, and we do!! I just read on here that you can also borrow them at the water parks.

At the Beach Club there was no rental fee. But you did need to show them your room or drivers license and bring them back to the counter when you leave the pool for the day.

They are free at both the water parks and the resorts. I believe you have to leave an I.D. at the water parks in order to get one.
The resorts handle it a little bit differently than one another but they all have them available for free, so just ask at concierge about where to get one. :thumbsup2

We were at the Poly in February, and even though I brought my own swim vest for my 4 year old, (speedo swim vest), I felt that the swim vest supplied by the pool at the Polynesian was better. We were able to keep the vest for the entire time we were staying at the resort, but I had to show the room key so just in case I never returned it, they would charge me for the vest. At the Polynesian, the vests were available behind the pool area at the marina. The vest looked like it had never been used before, and they had all different sizes available. Have fun!

I agree with the PPs. We stayed at POP last month (still sad to be back home) and just borrowed one of the free life vests that they had next to the pools. It fit my 4 y/o fine. I think they had different sizes.

At ASMusic, there was just a big bin (maybe two) of life vests to borrow - no need to ask and no need to pay!

Last fall at Boardwalk we got one from inside by showing our room keys, but at ALK they were in a bin near the towels- just ask the lifeguards or towel staff where to find them at each pool.

We were at Typoon Lagoon in May and didn't need to show anything to get two life vests and I only had one of my kids with me. Have Fun :)
