Is is warm enough to use the pools at the end of January? We're heading to BWV Jan 25-30. Do you think we should pack our swimsuits? DD (4) and DS (2) love to swim and we would be willing to plan some pool time if it wouldn't be too cold.

I'd pack a swimsuit - as far as using it, maybe. I've been down to WDW a couple of past Januarys and seen temps range anywhere from 32 degrees one morning to upper 70s some afternoons.

I'll be at the BWV Jan. 29-31 and plan to pack mine just in case - maybe I'll only use it for the hot tub!!!

HTH!!! :teeth:

Plenty of people use the WDW pools at that time of the year.

They are called tourists :confused3

Fl natives will be in parkas

We are from Ga and have not swam in Jan the last 6 years. I notice you are from Maryland so you may need to pack a suit.

We have a picture from a few years ago with people swimming and the lifeguard sitting on his chair with what looked like a snowsuit on. Hat and all...

It's fine when you are "in the water". But you freeze your mouse ears off when you are trying to dry off and run back to your room.

All Disney pools and the water parks are heated. They just haven't figured out how to heat the air. . . . :wizard:

hhehe...too true!

DH was one of the only people in the AKL pool this past january. Steam rising all around him.

And me...running away with his clothes/towels. heheheh

We will be at SSR January 27th - February 4th and I am definitely packing our suits.

I swam mid-January back in 2004 and it was cold when you are out of the water. :cold:

If a pools open my kids will definitely be in it.

Just keep in mind that there could be some days in the 80s in January, but there could also be some mornings near freezing with afternoon highs in the 40s.

You never know what you're going to get weather-wise in January!

Bob

You might not mind the cold weather, but January is one of the cold months in Florida. If it was me I wouldn't pack my swimsuit, but thats only because I would be bundled up in a jacket.

Thanks to all for your posts. I'll definitely take my bathing suit, I didn't think about the hot tub. Also, I'm glad I asked because I didn't realize that the weather in Jan is like riding a roller coaster. All my extra spending money would have gone to the gift shops for warm clothes. Wait a minute... there's always room for one more Mickey Sweatshirt! I might conveniently forget mine! :earsgirl:

we have gone swimming in january i say bring the swimsuits. the pools are heated year round & the hot tub in winter is divine. although theres alittle nip when you get out & head back to the room :goodvibes

We were there January 21st-27th this year and it was freezing. Literally. It hit 32 two nights in a row. But, regardless, steam poured off the pool and there were many brave souls in it mid-day and even as the sun set...I figured they all must be from somewhere REALLY cold because I definitely couldn't have handled it. I only went outside with my polar fleece pullover and fleece ear band and gloves on (over my jeans and long sleeve shirt!!!)!! But, we did take our swimsuit "just in case." Never got to use it though.

32 degrees for a low? In January? This sounds like heaven to me! :cool1: You southerners need to toughen up! (joke) I'm going in January and I'm swimming. If for no other reason than to call home and tell everyone who was slipping around on ice and snow that I WENT SWIMMING in January!

We went at the beginning of January this year and we went in the pool most days and walk around in short and t-shirts but were from the uk so it was like a hot summer days to us.

We used the hot tub last February, but I was not one of the hardy souls using the pool. But plenty of folks did.

I was in one of the quiet pools at CBR Jan 5th of this year. It was fantastic. Water was very warm. And I was not cold at all when I got out.And this was at 8 in the morning. :earsboy: The only thing that upset me was that I waited until our last morning to swim, what a dummie I was.

We were there the first week in January 2004 and it was in the high 80's. We wore shorts the whole week and went swimming every day and night. It was perfect weather. But being from the south I know some days in Jan might be 80 and the next might be 40. You can just never tell.
