Swimming in January?

It depends on the weather and what you are used to. If it is 70 degrees and sunny, my kids would be in the pool. In January the weather can vary.

We just got back and went swimming two days while we were there. Weather was around 70 or so, but the pool water is heated so much that it was actually quite pleasant. Have to watch out when you get OUT of the water - then it can get cold! :-)

I say swim away! :-)

Agree, ya never know. This year was GREAT and we swam outside everyday. We had booked an offsite hotel with indoor pool (paying more for it) because last year we had about 4 hours of swim time and the rest of the week, while nice was too cool for us to swim. One year we were there and had to buy hats and gloves and luckily had our winter coats in the parks :santa:

The pools are heated, so the water temperature isn't an issue. Depends how brave you want to be to get in and out of the water. We were just at WDW the middle of January and had mid 70's temperatures. Plenty warm to swim with the warm sun. With that said, we are from PA and had been used to cold January temps before arriving. Mid 70's felt really warm to us.

At WDW early Jan. (6th-12th), lots of swimming, laying in the sun. 3 days of 80 degree weather, 2 days in the 70's, 2 days in the 60's. Nights were chilly....

Sometimes - some days are great (even 80's), other days are cold (40's!). Bring your suits and sunscreen. We have had 4 January trips and managed to have some swimming days on each trip - we could just be lucky:confused3

:thumbsup2

Being from Canada anything about 58 is warm and we head for the water. I remember the first year we went and it was in January and we went swimming after the parks and we froze when we got out. The lifegaurds were in hats and gloves and winter jackets and likely thinking you stupid people it is freezing here, what are you doing:scared1: The kids thought it was great and when we returned home they told everyone they went swimming in the winter and everyone was jealous of us:banana:  We take nothing but shorts and t-shirts and one sweatshirt with us when we go. We live in shorts and if it is extra cold sweatshirts with the shorts.:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Go swimming and have a great time, your in Disney:wizard:

Is it warm enough to go swimming in January?
Thanks!
Michelle

Most Januarys, it is plenty warm enough for swimming. Now...the last time I went in January (2003), it was one of the coldest Januarys on record, and the swimsuit barely left the suitcase. That said, there were plenty of people who were not as bothered by this as me. All in what your tolerance is. If you can live with the coolness between the lounge chair and the pool, between the pool and your towel...no problems.

one advantage to swimming in January @ Disney -- probably will get the pool to yourself (or nearly so). LOL!
