Swimming in February

We were there in February of this year, and as others have said, it depends on the day. Our first few days were chilly with highs in the mid 50's. But the second half of our trip was in the 70's, plenty warm enough for us to swim (we're from the Western New York area, it was around 20 degrees here when we left for WDW).

The question is not "is it warm enough to swim?" but rather, "Is it warm enough to get out of the 82 degree pool and back to your room without turning into an ice-sculpture?" :lmao: I've been to Disney a few times in February - often it's quite nice. But, Feb 2006 was down right cold. DH and I were staying at POR and I could not believe that there was frost on the ground when we woke up in the morning. What was even more unbelievable was that there were people swimming in the pool while there was frost on the ground in the morning. I felt like a wimp walking past the pool wearing my winter coat, gloves and a hat while many kids played happily in the pool. So, it's all about what YOU think you'd enjoy. But, you are welcome to swim regadless of the outside temperature.:thumbsup2

Great! Knowing my kids, (11, 8, 6) they would go swimming even if they could see their breath (Floridians may not know what that means ;) ) and the pool was warm. I'm leaning towards CR because of its close promixity to MK but the pool doesn't seem as luscious/green as some of the others. I'd also love YC, BC or Swan/Dolphin. Any thoughts on those?
Of those choice (should price be no object) would choose the Beach Club for Stormalong Bay. I think that YC is a bit snooty, while the BC is more laid back. I know that not everyone will agree with *that* one! The are both great resorts, though. I love the Contemporary, but it has the absolute lamest pool. The Swolphin is a very nice hotel (and is much cheaper than the rest!) with a great pool but the pool can be colder than the others. At least it was when we were there a few Decembers ago. If you're interested in the Swolphin, you can ask over on the Swan/Dolphin Cheerleader's thread: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=19289603 and they will know if the Sheraton/Westin are heating their pool better in the winter.

We are also going in Feb. '08, and are from the Twin Cities. We are staying at the Poly, and hope to do some swimming while we're there. I'm sure my kids won't mind if the air is a little chilly as long as the water temperature is okay. I just hope it's warmer in Orlando than in Minnesota in February!

Does anyone know if the Poly is the only resort without a hottob?

We also were there this February and we swam. Like you we are from NW Indiana and 50 in February feels like a heat wave! We swam at night when it was cooler and if our DS8 wasn't begging to go swimming we wouldn't have. What you do for your children! :) We also got a day in at Blizzard Beach. We picked an overcast day when it had just got done raining. We had BB to ourselves. There wasn't 10 cars in the parking lot and we ran into no one in line. We had a work out walking to the top of all the rides since we didn't have to stand in line. Never have I seen BB so empty. One one occasion in the wave pool there were no more than 50 people. It was unbelievable. Our son loved it. Have fun swimming!!!!!! Today I just booked our Feb 2008 vacation and I'm sure we'll be swimming next February too and I can't wait. WDW in February was wonderful especially compared to summer.

Question for all Floridians and those who have visited WDW in early February: is it warm enough to swim? Coming from MN in Feb. where the winters can be bitter cold, 50's would seem like a heat wave. However, that's not quite warm enough to swim and my kids LOVE to swim. In fact, it's one of the things they most want to do and it is a deciding factor on which resort to stay at. We don't plan on going to Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon but I know they'll want to swim at the resort.

Thanks!

Might be warm enough for a Polar Bear Swim :scared1: , but there is NO WAY my warm blooded Florida kids would get anywhere near a pool in February, even a heated one.

we went in Feb a few years back. of the 6 day trip I would say that 2 were good for swimming. Those two days were between 70-75 degrees and with the water being heated it was quite nice. The other days the temp didn't top 65, and for most of the day was in the 50s, which even as a Chicagoan I find a bit chilly for swimming.
