Swimming in December?

What is the weather typically like in December? We are going Nov 29-Dec 6. Will it be warm enough to swim? Trying to decide between BWI and YC/BC. SAB will be a big factor, but if it's going to be too chilly, then we'll probably just do BWI.

The weather can be tricky that time of year down here. Chances are it will be warm enough to swim, especially during the day when the sun is out. Typically it doesn't get cold until the end of the year through the first week of March or so. Early December, I'd say it could be somewhere between 75-85 during the day, and possibly down to 55-65 at night. Of course it could be colder or warmer...the weather is kind of unpredictable. For example I can think of 2 Christmas Days growing up here just a couple of hours north of Orlando, one when it got up to 80, and another when it snowed...so you never know. I'm sure you could find something online where you can check the average highs and lows for those days. Hope this helps.

We were at WDW from Dec. 5-8 and my girls (ages 8 and 4) went swimming. The pools were heated. When they got out of the water, I quickly wrapped them up but they were FREEZING!!

We have been there twice at that time. One year we swam nearly everyday,it was so warm. Another year we had half warm days half really chilly days.You just never know, always have your swim suit ready.

We were there from 12/9 - 12/13 this year. The first day was definitely warm enough to swim -- most people were wearing shorts, etc. The next few days were unseasonably chilly and we were wearing sweatshirts most of the day (double sweatshirts at night). I must say there were a handful of hearty souls still swimming but we had breakfast at BC on the Sunday morning and Storm-Along Bay was just about empty! Far cry from the August crowds we'd expereinced there!

That time of year is about as predictable as a two year old.

It can go from 45 one day to 80 the next.

The pools are all heated, so IN the water you're good. but getting out--brrrrr...

I have swum that time of the year a few times, but it's pretty much never so hot that you HAVE to do so.

At night it gets pretty chilly, so I wouldn't count on swimming at night. SAB closes earlier that time of teh year as well, generally around 6:00pm so plan accordingly.

We've been the 1st week of Dec. 3 times. My children have been able to swim each trip.

Sounds like it might be ok to plan on swimming in December, but....would you buy a plus ticket thinking that you can go to Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon, will they even be open?

One will be open, the other will be closed for rehab, OR they'll both be open, but on alternating days. At least that's how it's been pretty much in the past.
