Hi I have a question for you all - first let me say you are always most helpful here when I have had questions and I thank you for that -- Now if on my Check out day from OKW (7/8 friday) we would like to pool hop to someplace else - I was thinking my kids would enjoy POR or FQ - in the afternoon before we need to leave for the airport would that be ok? Thanks again for your help. Michelle

I'm pretty sure that as a guest of dvc member you have the pool hopping ability, and that extends to your check out day. So you can pool hop on your check out day. I don't think they will care at port orleans or dixie landings, but you might call before heading over there to be sure they are taking hoppers that day if it is busy (I don't think it would be a problem; there is a note in the check-in paper to call if it is busy). Be sure to think about how you are going to change clothes and what you will do with wet clothes for the flight back.

I was going to check out of OKW then drive on over (we have a car - I should have said that to begin with) and will have a change of clothing with us for the plane . Thanks I didn't know about the calling ahead thing

honestly, we don't pool hop a lot so I don't know how important that is. I'm pretty sure that I read something like that in one of the check-in newspaper things, but I bet someone else could better tell you if that is important. My gut feeling is that it wouldn't be a big deal at port orleans, and you'd probably get more of a run-around if you did call because no one would know what to do with your call. But I don't know. I can call two people at disney and get four different answers. Somebody will give you a better answer than me.

Haa I hear you on that one!!! Well the kids might just decide they like the OKW main pool with the new slide soo much they just want to stay there instead of hopping. But I am secretly hoping we can hop as I want to check out POR.!

here's what the dvc web page says-

Pool Hopping Information for 2005

You and any Guests staying with you at Disney's Old Key West Resort, Disney's BoardWalk Villas, The Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge, Disney's Beach Club Villas or Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa are permitted to use other Disney Vacation Club and Walt Disney World Resort hotel pools (in addition to the pool at the resort hotel at which you're staying) if they are not at capacity. If the pool you are visiting reaches capacity, you may be asked to leave in order to accommodate Guests of that resort hotel. Please check with a Host/Hostess at the Front Desk of the resort hotel you wish to visit to find out about pool-access availability. You must present your "Key to the World" card with your "Disney Vacation Club Member" designation on it to use other resort hotel pools. Pool hopping is not available at Uzima Pool at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge and Stormalong Bay at Disney's Yacht & Beach Club Resorts. In addition, this restriction includes the leisure pools at these two resort hotels. There are no exceptions to this policy.

Resort hotel pools may become unavailable from time to time because of capacity limitations. Due to expected high occupancy, Disney Vacation Club Members may not "pool hop" during the following dates*:

February 20 - 26, 2005

March 19 - 27, 2005

May 27 - 30, 2005

June 27 - July 4, 2005

September 2 - 5, 2005

November 21 - 27, 2005

December 17, 2005 - January2, 2006

*Other restricted dates may be added based on projected pool capacity.

Wonderful - Thank you so much . I will pint this off now and put with my notes for our trip.

While guests staying at a resort are certainly welcome to use the pool and other facilities at that resort on the day of check out, you may want to be prepared for the possibility that pool hopping may not be allowed at all for renters.

While there have been no reports of poolhopping being denied, the latest DVC Member Clubhouse included the following:

Member Perks
To take advantage of any Member Perks, you must present your Disney Vacation Club Member ID Card, and at times, a current "Key to the World" card imprinted with "DVC Member."

Renters should be aware and prepared for the possibility that the room id alone may not be enough to enjoy some of the courtesies normally extended to DVC Members and their guests staying with them.

You don't say when you're checking in, but be aware there is no pool-hopping at all, for anybody, June 27th through July 4th.

Keep in mind also that pool hopping is a member perk, not a renter's perk. Technically you are not entitled to pool hop at all. As Doc pointed out, DVC is now starting to require a member show both their blue membership card as well as their room card to receive member benefits.

It clearly states "you and any guests staying with you" can pool hop. If the member is not with you that means renters can't pool hop. Sorry.
I think this has to do with the abuse to the system that has become rampant and the many calls and letters Disney has received complaining of this. I am glad they are insisting on member ID for perks. We paid a lot of money for membership and if all perks were avavilable to renters we would have rented ourselves and had deluxe resort stays dirt cheap! What is the incentive to buy if you can rent at $10 a point AND be entitled to all the perks?

Hi - Ok Thanks again for the input I will be sure to check my card and see if it says Member and call the POR desk. It would be on 7/8 the Friday of July 4th week. Michelle

The folks above are not talking about your room keycard. If you get asked for a card, they will want to see a DVC owner's membership card, not a room key.

Member perks are confusing, even for members, so I wouldn't count on being able to get any perks a member would enjoy. You might and you might not, but pool-hopping is one that is very likely to be denied.

You would, however, be welcome to use any of the pools at OKW, even after check-out.

Oh Ok then we shall just use the OKW pools. Thanks again.. Michelle

Even with all this said, it never hurts to call Poly and ask. Just make sure you provide all the necessary details about what cards you have and do not have. And make sure if you get the "Ok" that you get that person's full name, just in case.

Y-ASK
