Swim in October?

Going to DL either the 2nd week of September or October. Am hoping to stay at the DLH, as I know DS6 would really enjoy the Neverland Pool. However, if we have to go in October, will the weather be too cool in October for swimming? We plan on spending one day at the pool, so weather will play a big factor in our decision. If swimming is not really an option, then I may be outvoted and we'll stay in a timeshare near DL. I really want to stay on property, but DH is having trouble justifying the more than double expense for just "pixie dust on the ceiling." However, he would be persuaded to do DLH if DS6 is able to enjoy the really cool pool. (BTW, I did try weather.com, but could not get it to pull up the historical averages, so as not to waste you good people's time!)

We were at the Poly. the third week in Oct. '04, and we scored unbelievable weather, more than warm enough for swimming, which we did a number of days. I would say that the anytime in Sept. and beginning of Oct. you should have no problem swimming. The later in the month of Oct. you travel, it woud start to get a little questionable. You'll probably do better with the opinion someone that lives in Florida.

We went the first week in Oct. a few years ago and it was in the low to mid 80's. A beautiful time to go and the crowds were just perfect. :flower:

In general, California weather is warm in October. But it is always very unpredictable. I've been to DL in Oct and worn shorts the entire time and I've also been there and had to wear jeans and sweatshirts. Depending on where you're from 50 or 60 degree weather may still seem warm but to me that's too cold for swimming. Regardless, I've always seen folks in the pools even though I myself wouldn't have wanted to.

You should be just fine. Most of the resort pools are heated. If weather is a major concern, I would allow time in the schedule for an early afternoon swim vs. evening as sometimes the wind kicks up a bit and it might be uncomfortable exiting the pool area.

That's the time of year that we always travel! In 2002, the weather was a bit cool, but we braved it for the super-cool Neverland pool. It was okay as long as we were in the pool--it was heated--but we stayed in the pool until after dark, and getting OUT of the pool was an experience I wouldn't repeat in a hurry!

Last fall, the weather was good for swimming, but a little cool in the early mornings. For the best swimming weather, you would probably want to schedule time in the middle of the day.

BTW, you mentioned that your hubby didn't want to pay extra for "pixie dust", but I think he'll be surprised how much of a difference it'll make to your vacation.
