Swim diapers and resort pools?

Disosible swim diapers are NOT water proof. Any Mom who has put her child in one before leaving the house for the beach, only to find a carseat full of pee can tell you that. ;) They just don't absorb the water so they don't get full and explode like a real diaper.

Plastic pants are a much safer option. I have had babies poop in the disposible swim diapers and it does NOT stay in the diaper. A tight fitting plastic pant holds the poop in MUCH better, which is why you use them with cloth diapering in the first place, to keep the pee and poop INSIDE. :)

This is from MANY years of experience. I don't use swim diapers unless someone gives them to me because they just don't work as well. :)

Yes, I had this exact thing happen too. That is how I KNOW they are not waterproof. Do the rubber pants fill with water? I have a bunch of diaper making supplies still so I could make some of my own rubber type pants for him.

I honestly do not foresee him being in the water much anyway so I may just forget it all together and let dh and g-ma take the girls while ds is napping and I will just stay in the room with him.

Amen! I have never found them to be waterproof at all. I don't know why I keep trying them. Last time we did not make it to the car my little one peed while I was carrying her on my hip so we both had to change.

I really wish Disney would make it a policy to have untrained children wear plastic swim pants or not be allowed in the pool. Not only is it inconvenient for other guests, but it's a health issue to be swimming in a pool which has been contaminated by feces.

I don't understand what is so difficult about parents putting protective swim pants on their kids. :confused3 I understand kids have accidents, but my kids have used them and they have never leaked through.

Yes they do fill up with water. I just pull the leg elastic and smoosh it out. lol. Like I said before this is at the beach, we haven't been to Disney in ages. Of course I've found that the swim diapers also fill up with water, but not nearly as MUCH. Funny how the pee never stays IN the swim diapers, but the ocean can't seem to stay OUT. lol

Most community pools we go to now require a plastic cover on any child with a swim diaper. I don't see why Disney can't.

:lmao: They are funny like that.

I am not sure if he will be walking by then or not so it really might be a non issue anyway.

I don't use community pools, but I have heard many require it, which is why I was asking. I was looking at cloth swim diapers and they all stated that they just *contain* and do not absorb, which is why I was considering making my own. :confused3
