Swim Diaper Recommendations Please!

I am taking 10 mo DS and DW to Pop Century in about a week. We are planning on letting the little guy experience the pool. I need suggestions for reliable swim diapers since we have had the opportunity to put him in pool yet.

Any help anyone could give would be greatly appreciated.

Also if you happen to know the best kiddie pool in WDW that would be great info too.

I am a huge Disney nut like everybody else on this board, but due to the fact that this is my first child, I have zero experience on the offerings for kids. I only know a lot about the things for big kids like myself.

Huggies makes Little Swimmers and Pampers just came out with a swim diaper as well. Both are good. Remember that these "diapers" are only made to hold solids -- you won't want to put them on your dc until you are ready to swim or you may have an accident in the room/on you.

They old hold "solids" I did not know that. Excellent info. Then does the old technique of a diaper underneath elastic pants and swim trunks still work the best?

Gross as it sounds, solids are the only thing the diaper needs to hold, since there is so much chlorine in the pool to take care of the other kind. (Think every one of those 5-6 year olds is holding it till they get to the bathrooms...think again) Seriously, little swimmers are a good choice. Anything that absorbs pee will absorb water too, making for one heavy, soggy diaper. For my Dd I would just stick them under her swimsuit, and they worked just fine.

DD 15mo has been using Little Swimmers since she was 5mo and we have had NO problems! Only once did she have "solids" left in the diaper and it held everything in (it was a 2 movement day apparently). We then place her swim suit over i and she's ready to go. Just make sure that you put it on right before you go swimming as it doesn't exactly hold pee like a diaper.

I've worked as a lifeguard at a pool where the rule is swim diapers only. This is because regular diapers absorb way too much water and can weigh a kid down. I have never used the rubber pants but just don't see how they can work that good. Even my mother discouraged me from using them as they weren't that great 27 years ago.

You really don't want to use a diaper under elastic pants because diapers will absorb the pool water making them huge and heavy and once they reach maximum capacity, they won't hold the pee anyway. Plus, once they get heavy, they also tend to sag and then they won't hold in the solids either. This is why they came out with the swim diapers that don't hold liquid so they don't expand and become heavy and saggy. They still fit snug so they hold in solids. Huggies, Luvs, and Pampers all make the swim diapers now.

DS wears a cloth swim diaper. They usually have them at Target and Babies R Us. This is the kind that our swim lessons require and I prefer them since sometimes the Little Swimmers look kind of big on DS and I would hate to be the reason the pool is contaminated.

The cloth ones have full elastic around the waste and legs like similar to rubber pants.

Okay so it looks like the Huggies/Luvs/Pampers are the best choice as I don't have to worry about anything being baggy on DS.

Any thoughts on best kiddie pool? Will gladly hop on WDW transit to check out a cool spot for the little guy!

You will probably get lots of responses to this question! Disney does not allow pool hopping with only a few exceptions, as far as I know. If you are a DVC member stating on points, you can pool hop, I think. You can also hop between All-Star resorts if you are staying at one of them, and I think Port Orleans might have a pool for Riverside and also for French Quarter and you could use both if you were staying at one. I don't think Pop guests can hop to the other value resorts, but someone will correct me if I am wrong!

I actually just bought my ds reusable swim diapers at Target called "Wee Waves" and really like them too. Just something you might want to consider, although for the convenience of travel, the disposables are nice because there is nothing to wash. Just thought I would mention it for future reference.

As far as pool hopping goes, it is not allowed unless you are a DVC member and even then, there are restrictions.

I stayed at Pop this last April with my 4 and 2 yo DS's. Behind the main pool (which is pretty neat- no slide but my kids are too young for that anyway) there is a kiddie pool. It's probably around 2 feet deep in the middle and it also has spray jets all around it. The ground around the pool is covered in that spongy material that you often see around the spray pools. The day we played there the staff had thrown a load of blow up pool balls all around- there were 8-10 kids there playing and everyone was having a blast! Most of the kids appeared to be 5 and under so that was also a plus for the toddlers. The music playing in the background was also an added bonus for us. Seemed like they were playing a lot of 80's music which I love! My kids probably enjoyed that as much as when we were at the parks. I'm sure there are better pools somewhere on property but for a toddler/preschooler, I don't think you can beat Pop's kiddie pool! Have fun! It's a really fun resort! It was our first value and we want to stay there from now on!

You can get a swim suit with a built in swim diaper at K-mart. It is washable and thus reusable. I just bought DD a new swimsuit and didn't realize till I got home that this one (her 3rd) didn't have a built in swim diaper! So we'll have to get the disposable kind. Huggies and Pampers are the only brands I've seen for the disposable swim diaper. Huggies has Nemo and Ariel on theirs. Pampers has Dora, Elmo, and Spidey on theirs.

About kid pools, I think a 10 month old would like any pool with a zero entry, that way he can decide how deep to go himself by just crawling. I don't remember if Pop has one.

We have been using disposable swim diapers with plastic pants over it for DD, almost 3. I find the disposables do not fit her well, in any size, so we feel more secure using the combo. It's worked well, doesn't seem to bother her.

The new swim diapers from target - wee waves - are cute! I was babysitting for my friend who had them for her daughter. She put it over a disp. swim diaper and it looks like a bathing suit. The top she bought was really small though, not sure if they are all like that.
